The FAG QJ309-MPA four-point bearing (45x100x25 mm) accommodates high axial loads in both directions whilst requiring minimal axial installation space.
The QJ309-MPA four-point bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a split inner ring that transmits axial loads in both directions. With key dimensions of a 45 mm bore, 100 mm outer diameter and 25 mm width, this roller bearing requires little axial installation space. This open bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings features a solid brass cage and standard radial clearance. It is available in standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees.
This four-point bearing is primarily suitable for designs in which predominantly axial forces act from both directions. This design is often used as a pure axial bearing in combination with a separate radial bearing. Thanks to the split inner ring, the bearing accommodates more rolling elements, which increases its axial load capacity. As the outer ring has no groove, it is secured in the housing using conventional stop shoulders and clamping rings.
The two-piece inner ring simplifies installation, as the outer ring with ball cage and the two inner ring halves can be fitted separately. The component is not self-retaining, which allows you to establish fits on the shaft and housing independently of one another. During design, ensure that both inner ring halves are fully axially secured during operation. When selecting a lubricant, ensure it is suitable for the temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
The roller bearing has a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. These standardised dimensions allow it to be fitted in existing assemblies. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 for standard precision in mechanical engineering.
The brass cage guides the balls evenly along the raceway and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. Brass is characterised by high strength and thermal stability. This makes this type of cage suitable for demanding operating conditions within the permissible temperature range of between -30 and +150 degrees.
The split inner ring allows a greater number of balls to be fitted into the bearing during assembly than is possible with solid rings. This increases the axial load-carrying capacity in both directions. Furthermore, the non-self-retaining design facilitates the separate installation of the outer ring, ball cage and inner ring halves onto the shaft and housing.
As this roller bearing is designed as an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, you must protect the lubrication point from dirt using the housing or external seals. Depending on the system, lubrication is provided using lubricating oil or grease. The lubricant selected should be suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees.
Thanks to its special raceway cross-section, the QJ309-MPA four-point contact bearing accommodates axial loads in both axial directions. Under load, the balls contact the raceways at defined contact points. Where the load is predominantly axial, such a bearing often replaces two angular contact ball bearings arranged in a mirror-image configuration, thereby saving valuable installation space.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set internal radial clearance prior to installation. It is designed for standard fits and standard operating temperatures. Under normal temperature conditions ranging from -30 to +150 degrees, this ensures that the necessary operating clearance for low-friction bearing operation is maintained.
