SKF 623 compact deep-groove ball bearing with a 3 mm bore and 10 mm outer diameter for precision engineering applications subject to radial loads.
The SKF 623 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row miniature rolling bearing designed for compact installations. With a bore of 3 mm, an outside diameter of 10 mm and a width of 4 mm, this design primarily withstands radial forces. The inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly in the deep raceways, which promotes smooth running with low rotational resistance.
This miniature deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used where precise shaft guidance is required in very confined spaces. Typical applications include precision mechanical drives and compact rotary axes with limited installation space. As the component can accommodate low axial forces in both directions in addition to the radial load, it is suitable for a wide range of bearing applications. The cylindrical outer ring without a flange can be fitted flush into suitable housing bores.
As an open rolling bearing, this design has no integrated cover plates or sealing discs. This means there are no friction losses caused by sealing lips, which facilitates smooth start-up. However, the design requires a clean installation environment or external sealing of the housing against dirt and moisture. In addition, the lubricant must be supplied separately and selected to suit the application. The standard radial bearing clearance ensures balanced operating clearance at ambient and operating temperatures.
The miniature bearing has an internal diameter of 3 mm, an external diameter of 10 mm and a width of 4 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for space-saving use in compact shaft guides and precision mechanical assemblies.
An open bearing has no factory-fitted seals or cover plates. It operates with minimal frictional resistance, but requires on-site lubrication with oil or grease, as well as protection against the ingress of dirt particles from the installation environment.
Tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 defines the standard dimensional and running accuracy for rolling bearings. It meets the requirements of conventional industrial and equipment applications without the need for special fits.
The component is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. The actual operating limit during normal operation depends not only on the material of the bearing but also on the lubricant used in each case.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance compensates for operational heating and slight oversizes in the fit of the shaft and housing without causing the bearing to become stressed.
The rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel to ensure reliable strength and durability. The guided cage is made from sheet steel and keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance from one another.
