The SKF 62204 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing combines dimensions of 20x47x18 mm with seals that seal on both sides, making it suitable for industrial applications exposed to dust and moisture.
The 62204 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from SKF that accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. With a bore of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width of 18 mm, this design offers an increased internal volume. The outer ring has no flange or groove. Manufactured from 100Cr6 bearing steel and fitted with a sheet steel cage, the bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees.
This single-row radial ball bearing is used in rotating machine components where dirt particles or splashing water must be kept out. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering and in compact drive shafts. The double-sided lip seals protect the bearing interior from ingress of foreign particles and retain the grease within the rolling chamber. Thanks to its standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN, the bearing is suitable for standard applications involving uniform rotational movement.
The designation -2RS1 stands for double-sided sliding seal discs. The elastic sealing lips rest against the inner ring shoulder under slight contact pressure and shield the interior against contaminants and moisture. The 18 mm width also provides an enlarged lubricant chamber inside the bearing. It should be noted that, due to friction, contact seals affect the limiting speed compared with open bearings; however, they reduce maintenance requirements during operation.
The designation refers to a single-row radial deep-groove ball bearing with a 20 mm bore, 47 mm outside diameter and 18 mm width. The designation -2RS1 indicates seals that seal on both sides. This design protects the raceways from the ingress of particles and helps to retain the grease inside the bearing.
With an internal diameter of 20 mm, an external diameter of 47 mm and a total width of 18 mm, the bearing has a wider design. The cylindrical outer ring has a smooth finish and features neither a flange nor a ring groove, which facilitates installation in standard housing bores.
This bearing is designed for operation within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. The temperature limits are determined primarily by the material of the sliding sealing lips and the lubricant. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the integrated sheet steel cage ensure dimensionally stable guidance of the balls within this range.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the theoretical radial clearance between the outer ring, the balls and the inner ring prior to installation. This clearance is designed for standard fits on shafts and housings, as well as for applications without extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, in order to ensure low-vibration operation.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements of this bearing are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high wear resistance. A sheet steel cage is used to guide and space the row of balls, whilst sealing washers in contact on both sides protect the roller bearing from external influences.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1). This accuracy class meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering and drive technology. It defines standardised dimensional and concentricity tolerances to ensure a precise fit on machined shafts and in housing bores.
