The SKF 6200 deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row rolling bearing measuring 10x30x9 mm, designed for a wide range of radial loads.
The 6200 deep groove ball bearing is one of the most commonly used designs amongst radial bearings. This single-row rolling bearing from SKF consists of an inner and outer ring made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6, as well as balls made from the same material. In the SKF Explorer version, the component has a dimensional accuracy of P6 and a running accuracy of P5. With its dimensions of a 10 mm bore, 30 mm outer diameter and 9 mm width, it is suitable for a wide range of mounting applications in industry and trade.
The open deep-groove ball bearing 6200 is primarily used in clean environments where external lubrication or a sealed housing is provided. It is suitable for applications involving predominantly radial loads and moderate axial forces. As the component is open at both ends, the lubricant reaches the raceways and balls unhindered. The rolling bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The combination of P6 and P5 describes a manufacturing quality that is more precise than the standard tolerance. Class P6 narrows the tolerances of the mating dimensions on the inner and outer rings, which promotes a precise fit on the shaft and housing. The P5 grade reduces runout deviations in the rotating rings. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance, this bearing ensures smooth, even running. During design, you should provide for external sealing elements, as the bearing itself does not have any sealing washers.
This single-row bearing has an internal bore of 10 mm, an external diameter of 30 mm and a width of 9 mm. The outer contour is cylindrical, with no flange or ring groove. Thanks to these compact dimensions, the bearing is easy to select and fit into standardised bearing seats.
Open roller bearings have neither cover seals nor lip seals on their end faces. Lubricants such as oil or grease can circulate freely and reach the rolling elements and raceways directly. This design requires a clean installation environment or seals in the housing to prevent dirt particles and splash water from entering the interior.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The components made from standard roller bearing steel and the guided sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. For operation, select a lubricant suitable for the temperatures encountered in the bearing assembly.
This specification sets out tighter manufacturing tolerances than those for standard bearings. Dimensional accuracy class P6 minimises dimensional deviations in the bore and on the outer surface. Running accuracy class P5 ensures lower radial runout and precise concentricity. These properties are advantageous for drive systems where high guidance accuracy is essential.
Due to their design, open deep-groove ball bearings are not pre-lubricated at the factory. Grease or lubricating oil is applied either directly during assembly or via a centralised lubrication system. The sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and allows sufficient space for the lubricant to circulate.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard internal clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways prior to installation. This clearance compensates for the fit pressure when the bearing is pressed onto the shaft, as well as for normal thermal expansion during operation, without causing any undesirable stresses.
