The 6015 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with a 75 mm bore and open design, offers a wide range of applications in industrial mechanical engineering.
The 6015 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing designed for a wide range of applications. FAG Wälzlager manufactures this bearing from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel with dimensions of 75 mm bore, 115 mm outer diameter and 20 mm width. As an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, it allows direct lubrication via the surrounding lubrication circuit. It primarily absorbs radial forces, but also supports shafts under axial loads on both sides.
Design engineers prefer to use the 6015 deep groove ball bearing in sealed housings and assemblies where a housing seal is provided by the customer. Thanks to its open design, the lubricant circulates unhindered between the inner ring, outer ring and the rolling elements. The sheet steel cage guides the balls at constant rotational speeds. The bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +150 degrees and is used in conventional shaft mountings with standardised installation spaces.
The version with standard radial clearance and standard tolerance P0/PN is suitable for standard fits without exceptional thermal expansion. As this bearing is of open design, there is no frictional resistance caused by rubbing seals. This promotes smooth rotation and minimises heat build-up during operation. Before installation, check whether the external lubrication supply is regulated by oil or grease and ensure that the installation environment remains clean.
With a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 115 mm and a width of 20 mm, this roller bearing complies with standardised dimensions. The cylindrical outer ring has no flange and no ring groove, which means the bearing can be fitted flush into standardised housing units.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the balls and the raceways as specified by the manufacturer when the bearing is in its unassembled state. This operating clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by operation at normal operating temperatures. It is used wherever there are no extreme temperature differences between the shaft and the housing.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing plates, meaning that the raceways and balls are freely accessible. Lubricating oils or greases from the surrounding system can penetrate unhindered and dissipate heat. However, this design requires a clean housing environment or external seals to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
The ring and rolling elements are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high strength, wear resistance and dimensional stability under load. The guided cage is made from stamped sheet steel, which combines a low weight with sufficient stability to withstand alternating rotational movements.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees. As no temperature-sensitive plastic seals are fitted, it is primarily the lubricant used that determines the thermal operating limit during continuous operation. Greases or oils approved for the respective operating temperature are recommended.
Tolerance class P0, also known as standard tolerance or ABEC 1, defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances. It meets the standard requirements of general mechanical engineering. Precision versions with tighter tolerance limits are only required for particularly demanding spindles or measurement applications.
