Compact deep-groove ball bearing 6007 -2Z with a 35 mm bore, 62 mm outer diameter and cover plates on both sides for low-friction operation.
The SKF 6007-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing in the Explorer performance class. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element steel, this component accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The sheet metal covers on both sides protect the lubricant filling inside the bearing, whilst the system operates without additional friction losses. The design offers a tailored solution for precise rotating shaft connections.
This radial deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in drives, pumps, electric motors or gearboxes where medium speeds and moderate loads occur. The design requires operating conditions without direct exposure to liquids. Thanks to the non-contacting cover plates, hardly any frictional heat is generated, which is why this design is recommended for continuously running shafts. The combination of a compact design and high concentricity also proves its worth in conveyor systems.
The cover plates on both sides, made from profiled sheet steel, form a narrow gap with the inner ring and keep out coarse dust and dirt particles. At the same time, this design reduces grease leakage without increasing torque due to frictional wear. Manufacture to tolerance class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3) ensures reduced dimensional and concentricity tolerances compared with standard bearings. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance, this results in stable, low-vibration operation across a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
With an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 62 mm and a width of 14 mm, the bearing has standardised key dimensions. This allows it to be fitted directly into standardised housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats in mechanical and plant engineering.
The designation 2Z indicates that cover plates made of pressed sheet steel are fitted on both sides. Unlike abrasive rubber seals, these sheet metal plates do not come into contact with the inner ring. This keeps frictional resistance to a minimum, which facilitates higher speeds and reduces heat build-up during operation.
Bearings in tolerance class P6 have tighter manufacturing tolerances in terms of dimensional accuracy and concentricity than standard versions in the normal class. This results in a more even load distribution across the rolling elements, reduces disruptive vibrations and ensures smooth guidance of rotating shafts.
The unit is designed for operating temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel, the sheet steel cage and the factory-fitted grease are all tailored to this temperature range in order to prevent thermal overload of the components during normal operation.
The sheet steel cage guides the spherical rolling elements along the raceways at a uniform distance from one another. It prevents the balls from coming into direct contact with one another, thereby reducing friction and wear. The lightweight design also keeps inertial forces low at varying rotational speeds.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the defined operating clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways in their initial state. It is dimensioned such that, once the bearing has been correctly fitted onto the shaft and into the housing, it retains the necessary radial mobility to ensure smooth, non-binding rotation.
