The SKF 6016 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing combines dimensions of 80x125x22 mm with double-sided sealing and increased C3 bearing clearance for industrial applications subject to thermal stress.
The 6016 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design. The component primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its manufacture to P6 dimensional accuracy and PN running accuracy, the 6016 deep groove ball bearing is suitable for precisely guided shafts in mechanical and plant engineering. As a rolling bearing for maintenance and series production, it meets requirements for fit accuracy and smooth running.
This bearing is suitable for applications involving medium to high speeds where thermal effects or tight fits are present. Typical areas of application include electric motors, gearboxes, pumps and industrial drives. The robust sheet-steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely, even under dynamic loads. The seals, which contact the raceway on both sides, keep the lubricant inside whilst preventing the ingress of dirt particles and moisture.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the balls and raceways compensates for thermal expansion caused by temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. At the same time, the 2RS1 seal design protects the bearing from environmental influences within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Before installation, it must be checked whether the fits on the shaft and in the housing are designed to accommodate this bearing clearance.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 80 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width across flats of 22 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flange or groove. During design and repair, these dimensions allow for direct replacement on corresponding shafts and in suitable bearing housings.
The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) gives the rolling elements additional freedom of movement within the raceways. This is advantageous when tight fits cause the bearing rings to expand or when temperature differences arise between the shaft and the housing during operation. This reduces the risk of the rolling bearing overheating or developing internal stress.
The 2RS1 version features sealing discs that rub against the inner raceway on both sides. These sealing lips retain the grease inside the bearing and protect the raceways from the ingress of dust, dirt or moisture. The component is therefore suitable for dusty environments.
This roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. These limits are determined by the interaction between the 100Cr6 bearing steel, the cage material and the sliding seal discs, together with the lubricant filling. Operation within this range ensures the smooth functioning of all components.
Tolerance class P6 denotes a tighter dimensional accuracy for bores, outer diameters and widths than the standard tolerance, whilst the running accuracy corresponds to class PN. This higher precision facilitates a precise fit in the bearing seat and contributes to smooth shaft rotation.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The balls are guided by a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which ensures even distribution within the bearing. Together with the abiding sealing lips, this creates a robust bearing unit suitable for industrial rotary movements.
