The FAG 6322 deep-groove ball bearing, with a bore of 110 mm and an outside diameter of 240 mm, is an open design intended for industrial applications involving radial loads.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6322 from FAG primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), this bearing offers high dimensional stability. With a bore of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 240 mm and a width of 50 mm, this design complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). Designs in general mechanical engineering use this version for mounted shafts with a diameter of 110 mm under combined loads.
This rolling bearing is designed for use with predominantly radial loads on 110 mm diameter shafts. As it is an open bearing, it runs directly within the machine’s lubrication circuit or is supplied with grease or oil via a housing. The design covers a temperature range from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. This means the component is designed for the corresponding thermal operating conditions in an industrial environment.
With the open design, which has no integrated sealing washers, external sealing of the bearing housing is required. This design allows for the unimpeded exchange of lubricants and does not generate any frictional torque caused by rubbing sealing elements. The guided sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. Manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, the component requires carefully matched fits on the shaft and housing bore to ensure that the operating clearance is maintained during operation.
With an internal diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 240 mm and a width of 50 mm, this bearing has standardised industrial dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These dimensions allow it to be fitted onto suitable shafts and into housing bores in accordance with standard tolerances.
Open roller bearings do not have integrated cover plates or sealing discs. The rolling elements and raceways are exposed, which is why the lubricant must be supplied from the outside. Designs typically use this type in sealed housings with their own lubrication circuit or incorporate external seals to protect the bearing from contamination.
The permissible operating temperature for this bearing ranges from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage remain functional within this range. When designing the bearing assembly, care must be taken to ensure that the selected lubricant is also approved for the operating temperatures encountered.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly between the inner and outer rings. It is characterised by its low weight combined with high mechanical stability. Compared with plastic cages, the sheet steel version withstands operating temperatures of up to +150 degrees Celsius and is resistant to common mineral and synthetic lubricating oils.
This P0 classification (also referred to as standard tolerance PN) corresponds to ABEC Class 1 in the Anglo-American region. It defines the standardised dimensional, geometric and running accuracies for rolling bearings in accordance with applicable standards. This level of precision meets the requirements of many industrial applications in mechanical and plant engineering.
This specification indicates the manufacturing-related radial clearance when new, without any additional increase in clearance. When the inner ring is fitted onto the shaft, this clearance is reduced due to material expansion. At normal operating temperatures and with correctly matched fits, an operational clearance for rotational movement is maintained.
