Compact FAG 625 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 5 × 16 × 5 mm, for low-friction rotational movements on slender shafts.
The 625 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is a compact, single-row rolling bearing designed for precision engineering applications and high-precision small drives. With a bore of 5 mm, an outside diameter of 16 mm and a width of 5 mm, the component primarily absorbs radial forces and axial loads. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this design offers dimensional stability during demanding rotational movements. The open design without sealing washers enables smooth start-up with minimal rotational resistance.
This miniature bearing is primarily used in assemblies with limited radial installation space and slender shaft guides. As the outer and inner rings are open at both ends, the 625 deep-groove ball bearing is particularly suitable for protected installation spaces, enclosed housing designs or devices with external oil or grease lubrication, where dirt and moisture are kept out by surrounding housing components.
The combination of an open design, standard radial clearance and a stamped sheet steel cage is designed for a wide range of industrial applications. The 100Cr6 material and the metal cage can withstand operating temperatures from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius without dimensional distortion. Thanks to manufacture to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, the bearing fits into standardised housing and shaft seats without a flange. The absence of abiding sealing lips keeps the friction torque low, allowing for a flexible choice of lubricant.
With an internal diameter of 5 mm, an external diameter of 16 mm and a width of 5 mm, this miniature roller bearing is suitable for designs featuring slim shafts. These standardised dimensions enable a precise fit in assemblies with tightly dimensioned bearing seats.
Open bearings do not have integrated cover plates or sealing washers. This means there are no friction losses caused by seals coming into contact, which is particularly beneficial for low-friction rotational movements. However, the open design requires a clean installation environment or external housing seals to prevent the ingress of foreign particles and to retain the selected lubricant within the bearing.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance compensates for thermal expansion during operation, as well as the typical reduction in clearance that occurs when the bearing rings are pressed onto the shaft and into the housing seat. For standard fits and normal operating temperatures, this clearance class offers balanced running characteristics.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this range, both the standard roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. To ensure trouble-free operation, the externally supplied lubricant must also be approved for the selected temperature range.
The raceways and balls are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, which ensures high dimensional stability under load. The balls are guided by a lightweight sheet-steel cage. This model has no electrical insulation and no flange on the outer ring.
