The FAG 6020 deep-groove ball bearing, with its main dimensions of 100 × 150 × 24 mm, is capable of withstanding high radial and axial loads in industrial drives.
The 6020 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element steel. FAG manufactures this rolling bearing as an open version without integrated sealing washers, allowing lubricants such as oil or grease to reach the rolling elements and raceways unhindered. Thanks to its compact cross-sectional height for a 100 mm shaft diameter, this design is suitable for mechanical engineering applications where a high-load-capacity rotary bearing is required within a limited radial installation space.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in rotating assemblies and industrial machine drives. The bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. The open design is particularly recommended for installations that have a sealed housing and are centrally lubricated with oil or grease. During maintenance, the open design allows for direct lubricant replacement and visual inspection of the raceways.
As the bearing is left unencapsulated at the factory, the installation site requires an effective external housing seal to protect against dirt and moisture. The deep groove ball bearing has the standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, which meets the usual requirements in mechanical engineering. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the balls with low friction and, in combination with the rolling bearing steel, withstands operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. Always select a lubricant suitable for this temperature range.
With an internal diameter of 100 mm for the shaft seat, an external diameter of 150 mm for the housing and a width of 24 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical, without a flange or groove. These dimensions allow for unambiguous identification during repairs or new designs.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set radial clearance between the outer ring, the balls and the inner ring prior to installation. It is designed to ensure that, after the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing, it runs freely and without undue stress under normal operating conditions.
The open design, which does not use sealing washers, minimises friction and allows the bearing to be used in oil- or grease-lubricated housings. Lubricants can circulate freely and dissipate heat from the bearing. However, an open roller bearing requires either a clean environment or external housing seals to protect the interior of the bearing from dust and liquids.
The component is designed for an operating range of -20 to +150 degrees. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. To ensure trouble-free operation, the selected lubricant must be specified for the same temperature peaks.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, this component meets standard accuracy requirements in mechanical engineering. This standard precision ensures defined fit conditions on the shaft and housing and enables uniform concentricity when used with connecting components manufactured in accordance with standards.
A guided sheet steel cage keeps the balls, arranged in a single row, at a uniform distance apart. This cage design is characterised by its low weight and its resistance to lubricants and mechanical stresses. The guidance of the rolling elements promotes low-friction rolling.
