The 6036 M deep groove ball bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings, with a 180 mm bore and a brass cage, offers high stability for demanding industrial applications.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6036 M is primarily designed to withstand radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and designed to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this large bearing is suitable for industrial applications. With dimensions of 180 mm inner diameter and 280 mm outer diameter, and a width of 46 mm, the roller bearing fits precisely into housings and shaft seats.
It is used in mechanical engineering and gearbox construction, where shafts with a diameter of 180 mm need to be supported. As an open roller bearing without its own sealing elements, this design is intended for lubrication systems such as oil or grease circulation. The lubricant can reach the raceways unhindered, whilst the surrounding housing provides a seal against dirt and moisture. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The suffix ‘M’ indicates a solid brass cage that guides the balls precisely. Brass is characterised by high dimensional stability under vibrations and acceleration forces. With normal radial bearing clearance, the bearing is optimised for standard fits and operating conditions. The cylindrical surface of the outer ring is designed without a flange or groove, which requires a smooth housing bore.
With an internal diameter of 180 mm, an external diameter of 280 mm and a width of 46 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions for large bearings. This geometry enables a precise fit on shafts with a diameter of 180 mm and in corresponding housing bores.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes the version with a solid brass cage. Brass offers high strength and reliably maintains the correct spacing between the rolling elements, even under vibration or varying speeds. This is recommended for demanding applications involving increased mechanical stress.
The roller bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. This radial clearance, specified by the manufacturer for the unmounted bearing, compensates for dimensional variations arising from standard fits and for normal operational heating, without restricting the freedom of movement of the rolling elements.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius when manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. As the component is unsealed and contains no elastomeric materials, the practical temperature limit is primarily determined by the lubricant used.
The open design allows for direct lubrication via external lubrication systems such as oil or grease circulation systems. There are no sliding seals, which means there is no additional frictional resistance. To protect against contamination and moisture, a seal must be fitted to the surrounding bearing housing.
The manufacture complies with tolerance classes P0 or PN and ABEC 1. This standard tolerance defines precise limit dimensions for bore diameters, outside diameters and the running accuracy of the rings, and meets the usual requirements in general mechanical engineering and gearbox construction.
