The FAG 16024 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 120 × 180 × 19 mm, offers a space-saving bearing solution for predominantly radial loads in compact housings.
The 16024 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row, unshielded rolling bearing that withstands radial and axial forces. Due to the narrow cross-section of this design, the bearing is particularly suitable for applications where there is limited radial installation space despite a large shaft diameter. FAG manufactures the inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, which ensures high dimensional stability during continuous industrial operation.
This ball bearing is used where shafts with a diameter of 120 mm need to be guided reliably without unnecessarily increasing the external dimensions of the machine. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering, in gearboxes or in drive systems with oil or centralised lubrication. As the bearing is open at both ends, the lubricant reaches the raceways unhindered, allowing heat to be dissipated rapidly during operation.
This design does not feature integrated cover plates or sealing discs. Operation requires a clean installation environment, with the bearing housing providing external protection against dirt and moisture. The built-in sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and covers a permissible temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. With the standard tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1) and normal radial bearing clearance, the component can be easily integrated into standard fits.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 120 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 19 mm. These dimensions mean it offers a particularly small radial cross-section for a comparatively large shaft diameter.
P0, or ABEC 1, refers to the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings according to international standards. It defines limit values for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy that meet the requirements of most standard industrial applications in mechanical and plant engineering.
As an open roller bearing, this variant is designed for systems in which lubrication is provided via an external oil bath or a recirculating lubrication system. The lubricant can flow directly over the raceways. Protection against the ingress of particles must be provided by the housing design.
The bearing is suitable for an operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. The roller bearing steel and the robust sheet steel cage retain their mechanical strength within these limits, provided that the lubricant used is approved for the relevant operating temperature.
This component has the standard radial bearing clearance. This means that, when unassembled, the radial clearance between the outer ring, the balls and the inner ring complies with the standard specifications. It compensates for typical fit allowances and operational thermal expansion.
