The FAG 6008-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 40x68x15 mm, offers increased bearing clearance for industrial applications subject to thermal stress.
The FAG 6008-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed to accommodate radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. With an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 68 mm and a width of 15 mm, the component fits into standardised housing bores. Both the rings and the rolling elements are made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6, which ensures high dimensional stability under load.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in rotating systems where temperature differences between the shaft and the housing occur during operation. Typical applications include bearing locations with elevated operating temperatures, as well as rotating components in general mechanical engineering. As the outer ring has no groove or flange, the component can be fitted flexibly in an axial direction into through-bore housings. The wide operating temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees Celsius allows it to be used in assemblies subject to high thermal loads.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for fit oversizes during installation and thermal expansion during operation, thereby counteracting any stress on the bearing. As an open variant, the design has no integrated sealing washers. It can be integrated directly into existing lubrication circuits or filled with lubricant. At the same time, the guided sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly whilst maintaining a moderate weight.
The bearing has a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 68 mm and a width of 15 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in corresponding bearing seats without the need for any modification to the shaft or housing.
C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard. This means there is more clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways, enabling the rolling bearing to compensate for operational thermal expansion and tight press fits without causing any undesirable stiffness.
The open design without sealing washers is suitable for applications where the housing is sealed externally or where the bearing is supplied via an internal oil or lubrication circuit. Furthermore, an open bearing generates low frictional resistance, as there are no contact seals in contact with the rings.
The roller bearing is designed for use in environments ranging from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the components made from standard roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their mechanical strength.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This corresponds to the standard industrial tolerance for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy, and meets the requirements of common drive systems in general mechanical engineering.
