The SKF 6210 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 50x90x20 mm, with a ground seal on both sides and C3 clearance, offers a tried-and-tested solution for industrial drives.
The SKF 6210 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing for shaft diameters of 50 mm. The outer ring and inner ring are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical outer surface without a flange or groove. Inside, balls made of roller bearing steel, guided by a sturdy sheet steel cage, ensure smooth movement. As a sealed unit, this rolling bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. The design complies with tolerance class P0 (standard).
This roller bearing is primarily used in rotating machine components subject to medium to high radial loads, where the bearing location must be protected against particles or splash water. Typical applications include industrial drives with rotating shafts where moderate additional axial forces occur. As it is manufactured from roller bearing steel, the bearing is designed for operating temperatures between –20 and +120 degrees Celsius.
The designation 2RS1 refers to sealing lips fitted on both sides that make it difficult for dust, moisture and foreign particles to penetrate. At the same time, the lubricant remains inside the bearing. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased radial clearance compensates for thermal expansion when the inner and outer rings reach different temperatures during operation, or when tight fits on the 50 mm shaft constrict the bearing radially.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing has an inside diameter of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width across flats of 20 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in corresponding bearing housings and on suitable shaft seats.
The 2RS1 version features abiding sealing lips on both sides. These sealing lips rest against the inner ring and form a barrier against the ingress of dust, dirt particles and splash water. At the same time, they retain the lubricant within the roller bearing.
Bearing clearance class C3 indicates radial clearance that exceeds the normal standard range. Increased bearing clearance is advisable if temperature differences arise between the shaft and the housing during operation due to heating. Tight fits on the 50 mm shaft also reduce the operating clearance, so C3 helps to prevent seizing.
The permissible operating range for this model is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. In addition to the lubricant, the main limiting factors here are the sealing elements fitted. Within this temperature range, the material, the sheet steel cage and the sealing lips retain their dimensional stability and protective function.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material is characterised by high strength under rolling contact. A sheet steel cage ensures the even guidance of the balls. The bearing has no electrical insulation and complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
As a radial deep-groove ball bearing, this component primarily absorbs transverse forces acting perpendicular to the shaft. Owing to the raceways in the inner and outer rings, the bearing also transmits axial forces in both directions. However, in the case of predominantly axial loads or high tilting moments, it is advisable to consider alternative bearing designs.
