The SKF NU309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed for high radial loads, measures 45x100x25 mm and is used purely as a non-locating bearing.
The NU309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in the SKF Explorer series with an optimised internal design. With a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, this unit can accommodate high radial forces. Designed as an open bearing, it operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction between the fixed flanges of the outer ring.
This rolling bearing is suitable for mounting positions subject to high radial loads, where thermal length changes in the shaft must be compensated for without causing stress. Due to the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the flangeless inner ring remains removable on both sides. The design acts as a floating bearing and absorbs longitudinal movements directly within the bearing assembly. The separate mounting of the inner and outer rings facilitates maintenance work and step-by-step installation.
The lightweight polyamide cage reduces the mass of the rotating parts as well as running noise during operation. The standard radial bearing clearance provides a balanced operating clearance for common shaft and housing fits. In terms of precision, this model combines dimensional accuracy to P0 or ABEC 1 with increased running accuracy of class P6 or ABEC 3. As the outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication bore and no seals are integrated, the lubricant is supplied via the housing environment.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when mounted on suitable shaft journals and in cylindrical housing bores.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the roller elements between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to slide freely in both axial directions and to be removed completely. The component therefore functions purely as a non-locating bearing.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight, elastic material properties and good sliding characteristics. It helps to ensure smooth roller guidance. Please note that the permissible temperature range for the entire bearing unit is from -30 to +120 degrees.
Dimensional accuracy complies with precision class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst running accuracy is subject to tighter tolerances of P6 or ABEC 3. This specification ensures low-vibration concentricity with standardised fits on the shaft and in the housing.
As the bearing is manufactured at the factory without seals and without a lubrication groove in the outer ring, the bearing housing requires external sealing. Lubrication with grease or oil is provided directly via the housing design, within which the bearing operates protected from dirt and moisture.
The Explorer classification denotes SKF rolling bearings with optimised internal geometry and improved surface finish on the contact surfaces. These design features reduce internal stresses at the edges of the cylindrical rollers and help ensure reliable operation under high radial loads.
