The SKF NJ224 ECP cylindrical roller bearing offers high radial load-carrying capacity with dimensions of 120 × 215 × 40 mm and accommodates axial forces on one side.
The NJ224 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial rolling bearing in the SKF Explorer performance class with an optimised internal design. Designed for demanding industrial operating conditions, this open bearing accommodates high radial loads. With a bore diameter of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 40 mm, this unit is suitable for high-load shaft supports in general heavy machinery and gearbox construction.
This bearing is primarily used where high radial loads must be supported and the shaft is to be guided axially in one direction. Typical applications include mechanical drive trains and industrial plant with single-sided guidance. Owing to its design as a support bearing, the cylindrical roller bearing allows axial length changes of the shaft relative to the surrounding bearing housing to be compensated in the opposite direction without inducing residual stresses.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed from one side, which facilitates installation and subsequent maintenance work, as the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately from one another. The integrated polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and elastic material properties, which support favourable running characteristics within the operating temperature range of -30 to +120 °C.
A single-row radial roller bearing from SKF in the Explorer design with optimised internal geometry. It features an inner ring with a single flange and an outer ring with two flanges. This design enables the bearing to accommodate high radial loads and supports axial loads in one direction.
The bearing has a cylindrical bore of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width across flats of 40 mm. These key dimensions determine the fits on the shaft and in the bearing housing.
The NJ version acts as a support bearing. The outer ring guides the rollers on both sides via fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has a flange on one side only. This allows the inner ring to be moved axially in one direction and to be fitted separately from the outer ring during assembly.
The suffix ECP denotes a polyamide cage combined with an optimised internal design. The cage ensures quiet roller operation and has a low moment of inertia, making it suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 °C.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. In terms of dimensional accuracy, it complies with tolerance classes P0 or ABEC 1, whilst its running accuracy corresponds to the higher precision class P6 or ABEC 3.
As this is an open design without integrated seals and without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, lubrication is provided via the housing design. Depending on the operating conditions, either oil or roller bearing grease is used as the lubricant, which must be protected by external seals.
