The FAG NJ2216 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing, with an 80 mm bore, brass cage and support bearing function, offers a robust solution for high radial loads.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing, the NJ2216 -E-M1 from FAG, is designed for industrial applications where heavy radial loads are to be supported. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and raceways, the design can withstand high radial forces. Designed as an open rolling bearing, the component can be integrated into lubrication circuits using oil or grease.
Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering in bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces and single-sided shaft support. Due to its NJ design, the bearing functions as a support bearing: it accommodates radial forces as well as axial forces from one direction. At the same time, the bearing arrangement compensates for changes in the length of the shaft in the opposite axial direction, which counteracts thermal stresses in the housing.
The brass cage (designation M1) gives the roller set high mechanical stability under vibration or varying speeds. Combined with a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees, the component is suitable for thermally demanding environments. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing.
The single-row radial roller bearing has the following main dimensions: 80 mm bore, 140 mm outside diameter and 33 mm width. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring, enabling axial forces to be supported in one direction.
As a support bearing, the bearing guides the shaft in the axial direction whilst allowing axial displacement in the opposite direction. This design protects the bearing assembly from internal stresses that may arise due to operational thermal expansion of the shaft.
The brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers with precision and is characterised by its strength under mechanical stress. It absorbs dynamic inertial forces and vibrations, and ensures that the set of rollers runs smoothly.
As the bearing is designed without integrated seals, it is sealed by the surrounding housing structure. Lubrication can be carried out using grease or lubricating oil. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied from the side.
Tolerance class P0 (equivalent to PN or ABEC 1) defines the standard accuracy for dimensional and running tolerances in accordance with ISO standards. Bearings in this precision class meet the standard requirements of mechanical engineering and ensure a precise fit on shafts and housing bores that comply with the relevant standards.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. Within this range, the rings retain their dimensional stability and the brass cage continues to function correctly. The thermal stability of the lubricant used is also a key factor in determining the actual operating temperature limit.
