The FAG NU234 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing, a single-row idler bearing measuring 170 × 310 × 52 mm with a brass cage, offers high radial load-carrying capacity under demanding operating conditions.
The FAG NU234 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for heavy industrial loads. With a bore of 170 mm, an outside diameter of 310 mm and a width of 52 mm, the design can withstand high radial forces. Maintenance engineers and designers use the open design with standard radial clearance for bearing arrangements with external lubrication. Manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) contributes to dimensionally stable guidance in mechanical engineering.
This roller bearing is primarily used as a support bearing in heavy-duty industrial drives, gearboxes and industrial plant. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and the raceway, the bearing can withstand considerable radial loads. As the inner ring can be removed from both ends, the NU design compensates for thermal linear changes in the shaft relative to the housing without any forced alignment within the bearing. Furthermore, the ability to dismantle the bearing facilitates the separate assembly of both rings in large machines.
The solid brass cage (designation M1) guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and withstands high accelerations and vibrations during operation. It performs well under demanding lubrication conditions and at elevated operating temperatures, as the bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or bore. Ensure external seals are fitted to keep contaminants out of the bearing interior.
The bearing has a bore of 170 mm, an outer diameter of 310 mm and a width of 52 mm. These standardised key dimensions of the NU234 series allow for a precise replacement during overhauls or when redesigning industrial bearing assemblies.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. The bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It absorbs radial forces only and allows axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing directly in the rolling element zone.
A solid brass cage is integrated into the bearing, identified by the suffix M1. Brass cages are characterised by high dimensional stability under vibration and shock loads. They guide the cylindrical rollers reliably and are suitable for demanding thermal and mechanical operating conditions.
The permissible temperature range for this cylindrical roller bearing is from -30 to +150 degrees. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the actual thermal operating limit depends largely on the lubricant selected and the operating conditions of the machine environment.
The roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN) and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This design is suitable for standard installation conditions with standard fits, provided there are no extreme thermal expansions or special precision requirements for the bearing location.
The bearing is of an open design and has no integrated seals or lubrication holes in the outer ring. Grease or lubricating oil must therefore be supplied via the housing. External seals must be fitted in the surrounding structure to protect against contamination and moisture.
