The SKF 3202 ATN9 double-row angular contact ball bearing (15 × 35 × 15.9 mm) accommodates radial and axial loads on both sides with enhanced P6 precision.
The 3202 ATN9 angular contact ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 15 mm, an outer diameter of 35 mm and a width of 15.9 mm. The design is functionally equivalent to two single-row angular contact ball bearings in an O-arrangement, but requires less axial installation space. With a contact angle of 30 degrees, the component transmits combined forces in both directions. The open bearing is designed for systems with an external lubrication supply.
Designs subject to simultaneous radial and axial loads benefit from the double-row design of the 3202 ATN9 angular contact ball bearing. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with combined loads where axial installation space is limited. As the rows of balls are arranged at a 30-degree contact angle, the component also counteracts any tilting moments that may occur. A clean housing environment is a prerequisite for its use, as the open design does not feature integrated sealing protection.
The suffix ATN9 denotes a polyamide cage, which ensures low moving masses and quiet operation. It is designed for a temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees. Combined with the increased precision of tolerance class P6 (ABEC 3), this rolling bearing operates with dimensional stability and low vibration. Before installation, check that the standard radial clearance is suitable for the selected fits, and ensure a regular supply of lubricant.
With a bore of 15 mm, an outside diameter of 35 mm and a width of 15.9 mm, this model has standardised main dimensions. Thanks to its double-row design, it requires less axial installation space than two single-row bearings mounted side by side. These dimensions allow it to accommodate combined forces in a confined space.
At SKF, the designation ATN9 refers to a polyamide cage. This material reduces the moving mass of the ball retainer and enables the bearing to run quietly. The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements of both rows of balls at a defined distance.
This double-row roller bearing supports both radial and axial forces in both directions simultaneously. The two rows of balls act at a contact angle of 30 degrees, obliquely to the radial plane. This arrangement is therefore also suitable for supporting tilting moments, such as those that can occur with short support spans.
Bearings of tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3 have tighter tolerance ranges for dimensional and running accuracy than those with standard tolerances. This results in consistent concentricity and reduces vibrations at higher speeds. You should specifically choose this precision version if the bearing seats on the shaft and in the housing are of correspondingly fine tolerance.
As this is an open bearing without sealing washers, it is essential that lubrication is supplied via the surrounding environment. You can use suitable lubricating oils or rolling-element bearing greases, depending on the application and rotational speed. At the same time, the bearing housing must be structurally sealed to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the specified internal clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements prior to installation. It is designed for standard fits and moderate operating temperatures. Once the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft seat, this clearance is reduced, enabling the bearing to achieve an even load distribution during operation.
