The SKF QJ236 N2MA four-point bearing accommodates high axial forces in both directions whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 180 × 320 × 52 mm.
The QJ236 N2MA four-point bearing belongs to the radial angular contact ball bearing family and is specifically designed for applications where axial forces occur in both directions. With a bore of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 320 mm and a width of 52 mm, this rolling bearing requires less axial installation space than double-row bearing arrangements. The SKF Explorer version offers optimised running characteristics. A solid brass cage guides the rolling elements at temperatures ranging from –30 to +200 degrees.
This design is primarily used in industrial gearboxes and drive systems where varying axial loads are present. Designers frequently use four-point bearings as pure axial bearings in combination with a separate radial bearing. The split inner ring allows for a high number of balls to be accommodated. As the bearing is designed as an open variant, it is integrated directly into oil- or grease-lubricated housings, allowing lubricants to reach the raceways unhindered.
The two retaining grooves in the outer ring, offset by 180 degrees, serve to secure the bearing against unwanted rotation within the housing by means of keyways or pins. This is particularly important when the outer ring is fitted with radial clearance. The split inner ring allows you to mount the bearing rings separately onto the shaft. With tolerance class P6 for dimensional accuracy and P5 for running accuracy, the bearing meets high standards for concentricity and guidance precision with normal radial bearing clearance.
This roller bearing accommodates axial forces in both directions, yet requires only the width of a single-row bearing. It features a split inner ring, a robust brass cage and two retaining grooves in the outer ring. The open bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 180 mm, an outer diameter of 320 mm and a width of 52 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for four-point bearings of this size.
The retaining grooves on the outer ring, which are offset by 180 degrees, allow the bearing to be secured in the housing using locking pins. This helps to prevent the outer ring from shifting or rotating, which is particularly necessary in designs where the bearing seat is radially free within the housing.
This classification combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P6 with finer running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P5. This means tighter tolerances for concentricity and parallelism compared with the standard tolerance, which contributes to smoother running in demanding gear stages.
The split inner ring allows a larger number of balls to be fitted during manufacture, thereby increasing the load-carrying capacity. Furthermore, this design facilitates step-by-step assembly, as the inner ring halves and the outer ring are fitted separately onto the shaft and housing.
As the bearing is manufactured by the manufacturer without integrated seals, the lubricant must be supplied via the surrounding machine housing. Depending on the design specifications, the bearing is suitable for circulating oil lubrication or for targeted greasing within the sealed housing cavity.
