The FAG QJ209 -MPA-C3 four-point bearing is an open rolling bearing with a 45 mm bore, an 85 mm outer diameter and a brass cage, designed for axial forces acting in both directions.
The FAG QJ209 -MPA-C3 four-point bearing belongs to the group of radial ball bearings with a split inner ring. Thanks to this specific design, the bearing accommodates axial forces in both directions whilst requiring minimal installation space in the radial direction. With dimensions of 45 x 85 x 19 mm, this open design is suitable for applications requiring precise axial guidance. The brass cage guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The QJ209 -MPA-C3 four-point bearing is primarily used where high axial loads occur in alternating directions. This design often functions as a pure axial bearing in combination with separate radial bearings. Thanks to the split inner ring, the outer ring with ball cage and the two inner ring halves can be fitted separately, which simplifies handling during installation and maintenance work.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased internal clearance compensates for operational temperature differences between the shaft and housing, as well as tight fits, without the bearing becoming stressed. As an open roller bearing without sealing washers and without a ring groove in the outer ring, this version is designed for use in oil- or grease-lubricated housings. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
This FAG roller bearing accommodates axial forces in both directions whilst requiring minimal axial installation space. The design is based on a split inner ring and a solid outer ring. As it is an open design, the bearing requires a suitable lubricant in the surrounding housing. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 45 mm, an outside diameter of 85 mm and a width across flats of 19 mm. These dimensions allow it to be fitted in standardised bearing housings. During installation, the connecting parts on the shaft and housing provide axial support for the two split inner rings and the outer ring.
The division of the inner ring into two parts allows more rolling elements to be fitted, which increases the axial load capacity. Furthermore, the bearing is not of a self-retaining design: the outer ring with its ball race and the two ring halves can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This makes installation easier in confined spaces.
A C3 classification indicates a slightly increased radial clearance in the bearing compared with the standard version. This reserve reduces the risk of the rolling elements becoming jammed if temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, or if tight fits constrict the bearing radially. This contributes to smooth running under thermal loads.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the components retain their dimensional stability. For use at high temperatures, care must be taken to ensure a suitable external lubricant is used, as open bearings are not fitted with seals as standard.
The brass cage separates the balls and guides them into the raceways at regular intervals. Brass is well suited to demanding thermal conditions and alternating torsional loads, as it withstands mechanical stresses and keeps friction within the rolling element set to a minimum.
