The FAG QJ306-MPA four-point bearing, with dimensions of 30 × 72 × 19 mm, offers a compact design for accommodating axial forces in both directions.
The QJ306-MPA four-point bearing is a special radial ball bearing which, thanks to its raceway geometry, accommodates high axial forces in both directions. As an open bearing from the FAG rolling bearing range, this design features a split inner ring and a guided brass cage. With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, this rolling bearing requires less axial installation space than a combination of two angular contact ball bearings.
This type of bearing is primarily used where alternating or predominantly axial loads occur and axial installation space is limited. In gearbox construction, this design is frequently used as a pure axial bearing, in which the outer ring is left unsupported radially, whilst separate radial bearings absorb the transverse forces. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove, it is secured in the housing via the fit of the cylindrical outer surface.
The split inner ring allows a large number of rolling elements to be fitted and facilitates assembly. Both ring halves, as well as the outer ring with ball race, can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. The brass cage guides the balls and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance and to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
Due to its contact angle, this roller bearing absorbs axial forces in both directions. This design features a split inner ring and a brass cage, and does not require sealing washers. It takes up less installation space in the axial direction than double-row angular contact ball bearings.
The dimensions are 30 mm bore diameter (internal diameter), 72 mm external diameter and 19 mm overall width. Checking these fitting dimensions against the shaft and housing bore prior to installation ensures a precise fit.
The two-piece inner ring allows more rolling elements to be fitted into the deep raceway, which increases the axial load capacity. Furthermore, this design facilitates mechanical assembly, as the outer ring with cage and the two inner ring halves can be press-fitted separately.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The integrated brass cage ensures that the rolling elements are guided in a dimensionally stable manner, even at higher operating temperatures within this range.
As this four-point bearing is designed as an open bearing without integrated seals, it requires external lubrication with grease or oil via the housing design. At the same time, a seal provided by the customer prevents the ingress of dirt particles.
The bearing has a standard radial clearance. Under normal operating and temperature conditions, this standard clearance provides the necessary play between the balls and the raceways, thereby preventing stress build-up during operation.
