The SKF 6211 NR deep groove ball bearing combines dimensions of 55x100x21 mm with a retaining ring for easy axial fixing in the housing.
This single-row deep groove ball bearing 6211 NR from SKF accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The design features a ring groove with an inserted snap ring on the outer ring. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 and fitted with a sheet steel cage, this open bearing is suitable for designs with an external lubricant supply. Manufactured to tolerance class P0, the component is designed for standardised industrial applications.
The bearing is primarily used in rotating systems where space-saving axial retention is required. The externally mounted retaining ring reduces the installation space required in the bearing housing, as it eliminates the need for complex housing shoulders or additional retaining rings. The open component operates in externally lubricated units and withstands operating temperatures from –20 to +150 degrees. With normal radial bearing clearance, rotational movements are transmitted smoothly.
The suffix ‘NR’ indicates the precision ring groove, complete with a matching snap ring in the outer ring. This feature facilitates axial positioning within the housing, as the bearing abuts directly against the housing wall via the snap ring. During housing manufacture, a suitable groove is all that is required. As this is an open design without sealing washers, the bearing location must be protected from contamination by the surrounding housing structure.
The designation NR stands for a ring groove in the outer ring (N) combined with an inserted retaining ring (R). This design allows the bearing to be secured axially in the housing by a positive fit, without the need for complex retaining shoulders or separate covers.
With an internal diameter of 55 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 21 mm, the bearing complies with standard metric dimensions. The retaining ring fitted to the outer ring protrudes slightly radially beyond the external diameter and serves to secure the bearing axially.
As an open component, the 6211 NR version has no sealing washers. Lubricants such as oil or grease can reach the raceways unhindered. The bearing housing therefore requires sealing via the surrounding machine casing to prevent the ingress of dirt particles or moisture.
The model is designed with standard radial bearing clearance. This specification defines the radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. It is designed for standard fits on shafts and housings at normal operating temperatures.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees. Both the standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) used for the rings and rolling elements and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. A lubricant suitable for the temperature is essential for proper operation.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1). This classification defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances for standardised industrial applications.
