The SKF 6044 M deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 220 × 340 × 56 mm and a brass cage, provides a robust bearing solution for heavy-duty shafts.
The SKF 6044 M deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this open rolling bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The design complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and has a standard radial clearance. As the outer ring is manufactured without a flange or groove, the component can be fitted cleanly into cylindrical housing bores.
This size is primarily used in general mechanical engineering and in heavy-duty shaft bearings. With an internal diameter of 220 mm and an external diameter of 340 mm, the bearing supports heavily loaded large shafts. As this is an open design without integrated sealing washers, lubrication is provided via an external lubrication system such as an oil bath or recirculating lubrication.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes a brass cage that guides the rolling elements. Brass cages exhibit favourable friction characteristics and are suitable for environments subject to vibrations or rapid changes in rotational speed. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius. When designing the bearing mounting, a suitable external housing seal must be provided to protect the unsealed bearing from contamination.
With a bore of 220 mm, an external diameter of 340 mm and a width of 56 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. This facilitates direct replacement during maintenance work or in new mechanical engineering designs.
The abbreviation ‘M’ stands for a brass cage. Brass cages are suitable for demanding operating conditions involving vibrations and reliably guide the rolling elements along the raceway, even during dynamic changes in speed.
As an open design, the roller bearing is supplied ex-works without either cover plates or sealing plates. This design reduces the friction torque and allows direct connection to external lubrication systems such as oil or grease circulation systems. The surrounding machine housing provides protection against the ingress of dirt.
The ball bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. It therefore offers the dimensional and running accuracy customary in mechanical engineering for cylindrical shaft and housing seats.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. When designing the lubrication system, care must be taken to ensure that the chosen lubricant is suitable for continuous use within this range.
