The SKF 6015-2Z deep-groove ball bearing, with a 75 mm bore and cover plates on both sides, provides contact-free protection for industrial rotary movements.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6015 -2Z primarily accommodates radial loads and also supports axial forces in both directions. SKF manufactures this model from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel in the Explorer performance class. Fitted with a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance, the bearing operates with low vibration within a temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Thanks to its compact width of 20 mm, this design is suitable for space-saving applications on shafts with a diameter of 75 mm.
Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in rotating assemblies and shaft designs. Design engineers use the bearing wherever medium to high speeds are required whilst maintaining stable shaft guidance. As the outer ring is designed without a flange or ring groove, the cylindrical ring fits flush into standard housing bores with a diameter of 115 mm. The integrated sheet metal cover protects the interior from coarse dirt particles without generating any additional frictional torque on the rotating components.
The Z-cover on both sides shields the raceways against the ingress of solid foreign bodies. As these are gap seals that do not come into contact with the inner ring, the thermal load during operation remains low. A key feature of this bearing is its increased dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6, combined with standard running accuracy PN. This tighter manufacturing tolerance ensures a precise fit of the bearing on the shaft and in the housing, which minimises unwanted bearing play and promotes smooth running.
This roller bearing has a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 115 mm and a width of 20 mm. The outer ring has a cylindrical end face, meaning it has neither a groove nor a flange. This makes the bearing suitable for standard cylindrical housing seats.
The designation -2Z refers to cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These plates form a non-contact sealing gap with the inner ring. They keep dust and solid particles out of the bearing interior without generating frictional heat, which makes them suitable for use at higher speeds.
The P6 classification means that the bore, external diameter and width are manufactured with smaller dimensional deviations than under the standard ‘Normal’ (PN) tolerance. This allows for more precise fits on the shaft and in the housing, thereby reducing vibrations during operation and facilitating the centring of rotating components.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is limited by the metallic materials of the bearing and the integrated sheet steel cage. Within these thermal limits, the microstructure of the standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel remains dimensionally stable and resistant to distortion.
The bearing has standard radial clearance. This standard clearance is designed to provide balanced operating clearance under normal operating conditions with standard shaft and housing fits, provided there are no unusual temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
Both the balls and the bearing rings are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). A sheet steel cage is used. This guides the rolling elements evenly along the single-row raceway, is resistant to vibrations and takes up very little space inside the bearing.
