The SKF 6322 M/C3 deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 110x240x50 mm, a brass cage and increased C3 bearing clearance, provides a high-load-capacity bearing solution for heavy shafts.
The 6322 M/C3 deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row radial ball bearing to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. With a bore of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 240 mm and a width of 50 mm, this roller bearing is suitable for industrial applications involving high speeds and thermal stresses. The manufacturer, SKF, fits this version with a solid brass cage that retains high dimensional stability even under vibration. As no sealing washers are fitted, the lubricant reaches the raceways unimpeded.
This large bearing primarily withstands high radial forces as well as axial guidance forces in both directions. Typical applications include heavy-duty industrial drives and rotating machine shafts subject to high loads. As there are no contact seals, no friction losses occur at the sealing elements within the bearing. Combined with a temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, the design is suitable for oil-lubricated systems and relubricatable bearing arrangements.
The suffixes M and C3 indicate technical deviations from the standard design. The suffix M denotes a solid brass cage which, compared to standard sheet metal cages, withstands vibrations and impact loads. The C3 bearing clearance indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance as supplied. This increased operating clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing if the shaft and inner ring expand due to operational heat build-up or if fits reduce the radial clearance.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 110 mm for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 240 mm and a width across flats of 50 mm. The rolling elements run in a single row in continuous grooves in the inner and outer rings. The cylindrical outer ring has a smooth finish, without a flange or groove.
The letter combination M/C3 describes the cage design and the radial bearing clearance. The M stands for a machined solid brass cage which guides the steel balls. The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard design, in order to compensate for thermal expansion during operation without causing stress.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor mechanical seals. As a result, they do not generate any additional frictional torque at the sealing lips and are suitable for higher circumferential speeds. Lubrication and protection against contamination are provided externally via the machine housing, for example by means of a continuous oil bath or relubricatable labyrinth seals.
This version, made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 with a brass cage, has a permissible operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The brass cage retains its mechanical strength within this range. When selecting a bearing, users must ensure that the chosen lubricant is approved for the relevant operating temperatures.
The component is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1. This standard level of accuracy meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering, plant engineering and gearbox construction, where standard installation conditions are required without the need for special precision.
Both the inner and outer rings, as well as the spherical rolling elements, are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel. The cage is made from brass, whilst no electrically insulating coatings are used.
