The 6314-2RSR deep groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings, measuring 70 x 150 x 35 mm and featuring a ground seal on both sides, provides protection against dirt particles.
The 6314-2RSR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing to standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this design can accommodate high radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Thanks to the contact seals fitted on both sides, the unit is suitable for environments where moisture or dust particles may affect the bearing location. The bearing is manufactured by FAG and has an outer ring without a flange or groove.
Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for rotating shafts with a diameter of 70 mm that are subject to combined loads and potential contamination. Designs benefit from stable guidance provided by the deep raceways and the robust sheet steel cage. As the rolling elements are protected on both sides, the lubricant remains sealed within the bearing. This helps to minimise maintenance requirements in enclosed and hard-to-access units.
The designation 2RSR stands for abutment seals fitted on both sides. These make direct contact with the bearing inner ring and form a barrier against the ingress of dust, abrasives and splash water. Compared with open bearings, the contact between the seals results in slightly higher friction, which must be taken into account at maximum operating speed. Designed with standard radial bearing clearance, the component covers a temperature range from –20 to +100 degrees Celsius.
As a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, this design features seals that rub against the bearing on both sides. The component has a cylindrical outer ring without a flange and is guided by a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. It primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces and complies with standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The main dimensions are 70 mm bore diameter (internal diameter), 150 mm external diameter and 35 mm width. These dimensions comply with the standardised metric Series 63 for shafts with a nominal diameter of 70 mm. Before installation, always check that the existing housing seat and shaft fit comply with these values.
The suffix -2RSR denotes contact seals fitted on both sides, made from an elastomeric material with a steel insert. The sealing lips make contact with the running surface of the inner ring. This protects the interior of the bearing from contamination and prevents grease from escaping, but generates more friction than non-contacting cover plates.
This bearing has standard radial clearance (designation CN). Bearing clearance describes the radial play of the rolling elements between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unloaded and in its installed state. Normal bearing clearance is suitable for standard applications with typical fits, where there are no extreme temperature gradients between the shaft and the housing.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +100 degrees Celsius. This range is essentially determined by the sealing material used and the lubricant applied at the factory. For applications outside this range, special versions with specific sealing materials and lubricants are required.
This version features a sturdy sheet steel cage. The cage maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. Sheet steel cages offer good strength whilst being lightweight, and are resistant to the lubricants commonly used in industrial applications at operating temperatures.
