The FAG 6314-Z deep-groove ball bearing, with main dimensions of 70 × 150 × 35 mm, can withstand high radial loads and, thanks to its single-sided cover plate, provides targeted protection against particles.
The FAG 6314-Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial applications subject to predominantly radial loads. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm, the 63 series is designed to handle medium to heavy mechanical loads. The standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 used gives the rings and rolling elements high dimensional stability. In addition to radial forces, the component transmits moderate axial forces in both directions.
Typical applications include general mechanical engineering and industrial shaft mountings subject to predominantly radial loads. The deep raceways in the inner and outer rings ensure smooth running with uniform load transmission. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees Celsius, the bearing is suitable for cold installation environments as well as for areas with increased operating heat. An integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements in an orderly manner across the entire speed range.
The -Z design features a fixed cover plate made of profiled sheet steel on one end face. This gap cover keeps coarse dirt away from the rolling elements without making contact with the inner ring. As a result, no additional frictional torque is generated compared to sliding seals. The open opposite side allows unobstructed access for lubricant via oil circuits or housing grease fillings. In standard fits, the normal radial bearing clearance serves to enable a balanced operating clearance without internal stress.
The bearing has an internal bore of 70 mm, an external diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. Both the raceways and the balls are made of standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
A single-sided cover plate made of sheet steel acts as a non-contact gap seal, protecting the interior of the bearing from the ingress of solid foreign particles. As there is no contact with the inner ring, friction remains low. The opposite side remains open towards the housing to allow lubrication.
The normal radial bearing clearance corresponds to the standard radial clearance when the bearing is not installed. It is designed to suit the usual transition and tight fits on the shaft and housing. At conventional operating temperatures, sufficient clearance remains after press-fitting to allow the rolling elements to roll freely without increased contact pressure.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Both the sheet steel cage and the bearing rings retain their strength within this temperature range. To ensure correct operation, a lubricant must be selected whose temperature range corresponds to the respective operating temperature.
A sheet steel cage is fitted inside the bearing. It keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance apart and prevents the balls from coming into direct contact with one another. The sheet steel construction keeps the weight low and is suitable for standard industrial applications with varying operating conditions.
The roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This accuracy class fully meets the requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering, provided that no special concentricity or high-precision requirements are imposed on the bearings.
