The SKF 6314-2Z deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 70x150x35 mm and cover plates on both sides, provides protection against dirt particles in industrial applications.
The 6314-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing from SKF’s Explorer performance class. It primarily supports radial loads and also withstands axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing is characterised by dimensionally stable raceways. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm, the roller bearing is suitable for industrial applications involving medium to high loads.
This bearing size is used in industrial shaft mountings where high radial forces and moderate axial forces occur. The design is intended for guiding rotating shafts with uniform load distribution. The bearing has a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove and can be fitted directly into housing recesses. As no electrical insulation is integrated, it is advisable to take into account possible current paths in the bearing area when used in electrically stressed systems.
The cover plates on both sides, made from profiled steel sheet, act as non-contact gap seals. They help to keep foreign matter out of the bearing interior and ensure that the lubricant applied at the factory remains in place. As the gap is non-contact, no additional frictional resistance is generated, which keeps heat build-up to a minimum during continuous operation. In combination with the sheet steel cage and the standard radial bearing clearance, this variant covers a temperature range from –20 to +120 degrees.
A single-row radial ball bearing from SKF in Explorer quality with a bore diameter of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. It features sheet metal shields on both sides, a sheet steel cage and tolerances to P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1). The bearing is suitable for radial and axial loads in harsh industrial environments.
The main dimensions are 70 mm internal diameter, 150 mm external diameter and 35 mm width. Both rings are cylindrical in design. Before installation, the installation space and shaft seat should be checked to ensure the rings are correctly aligned in the bearing seat.
The suffix -2Z denotes cover plates made of sheet steel fitted on both sides, which are also commonly referred to as ZZ. These non-contacting covers keep solid dirt particles out and minimise lubricant loss. As they do not come into contact with the rings, no frictional torque is generated, meaning that the permissible speeds remain unaffected.
Standard bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the balls and raceways as specified by the manufacturer. This clearance compensates for the typical interference fit when the inner ring is fitted onto the shaft, as well as for moderate thermal expansion caused by operation, without compromising smooth running.
The sealed roller bearing, which features standard bearing steel and a sheet steel cage, has a permissible operating range of -20 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the bearing clearance and lubrication properties remain stable. For applications close to the limit values, the relubrication intervals or operating cycles should be monitored.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. The balls are guided by a sheet steel cage, which ensures uniform ball spacing whilst keeping the weight to a minimum and is designed to withstand the typical rotational stresses encountered in industrial applications.
