SKF deep groove ball bearing 6311 -2Z: A single-row rolling bearing with a 55 mm bore, 120 mm outer diameter and cover plates on both sides, designed for industrial radial loads.
The 6311-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing in the SKF Explorer series, designed for demanding rotational applications in industry and trade. With an inner diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 29 mm, the component primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial forces. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6 with a robust sheet steel cage, the design is rated for an operating temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The rolling bearing is primarily used in rotating shaft systems where radial forces predominate. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering at constant speeds and under moderate loads. The outer ring has no flange or groove, allowing the bearing to fit cylindrically into housing bores. Thanks to the covers on both sides, this design is suitable for environments where solid particles need to be kept away from the raceways.
The suffix combination -2Z denotes non-contacting sheet-metal shields on both sides of the bearing. These shields keep out coarse dirt particles without generating additional friction or heat at the contact points. The 6311 -2Z deep-groove ball bearing features standard radial clearance in tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1). This specification is tailored to standard fits and ensures smooth running in standard applications.
The roller bearing has a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a total width of 29 mm. It is a single-row bearing with a cylindrical outer ring, without a flange or ring groove.
The designation -2Z indicates that cover plates made of sheet steel are fitted on both sides. This design provides contact-free protection for the interior against the ingress of solid foreign particles and helps to retain the grease inside the bearing without causing friction losses.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This temperature range is achieved through the combination of 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, a sheet steel cage and sealing washers.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. It helps to ensure that the bearing rotates smoothly once it has been mounted on the shaft and in the housing.
Both the solid inner and outer rings and the balls are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The integrated cage, which guides the rolling elements, is made of sheet steel.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. This class covers the standard dimensional and running accuracies required for industrial machinery applications.
