The SKF 6309 -2Z/C3 deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 45x100x25 mm, a non-contacting 2Z sheet metal cover and C3 clearance, offers reliable operation under demanding radial loads.
The single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6309 -2Z/C3 primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore and a robust sheet steel cage, this design complies with tolerance class P0 (PN or ABEC 1). Metal shields on both sides protect the bearing interior from coarse particles. Thanks to the factory-applied grease fill, the unit is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The 6309 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is designed for bearing arrangements involving continuous rotational speeds and radial loads. This design has proven its worth in industrial drives and shaft mountings where low friction and straightforward handling are required. Thanks to the smooth outer ring without a flange or groove, the rolling bearing can be fitted directly into machined cylindrical housing bores. The single-row design ensures low-friction guidance of the shaft with low torque resistance.
The increased C3 radial clearance exceeds the standard dimension. This helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed when operational heating or tight fits cause thermal expansion of the shaft and inner ring. The 2Z cover plates on both sides, made of sheet steel, act as non-contact gap seals. They retain the grease inside and repel foreign particles without causing friction losses or additional heat generation at the sealing points.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. These standardised dimensions ensure a precise fit when installed in housings and on shafts.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. The increased radial clearance compensates for dimensional restrictions that may arise due to tight fits on the shaft or temperature-induced expansion during operation.
The double-sided 2Z design consists of profiled sheet steel discs which rest against the inner ring without coming into contact with it. They protect the rolling elements and raceways from coarse dirt and dust, and retain the grease filled at the factory without causing any friction losses.
Both the solid rings and the balls are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This tried-and-tested material is characterised by high dimensional stability, good fatigue strength and outstanding wear resistance under cyclic rolling loads.
The ball bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This temperature range takes into account the metal end plates, the guided sheet steel cage and the stability of the rolling bearing steel in standard industrial applications.
Manufacture is carried out in accordance with the standard tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN or ABEC 1). This tolerance class fully meets the standard accuracy requirements of general mechanical engineering and industrial drive technology.
