The SKF 6307-2Z deep groove ball bearing features sheet metal end shields on both sides and a standard tolerance of P0, with main dimensions of 35 × 80 × 21 mm.
The 6307-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, with a 35 mm bore, an 80 mm outer diameter and a width of 21 mm. As an SKF Explorer variant, this rolling bearing combines optimised raceway surfaces with high dimensional accuracy. The component primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its sheet steel cage and factory-applied grease filling, the bearing is designed for use in industrial applications.
This deep groove ball bearing is typically used on rotating shafts and in general mechanical and plant engineering. With an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees, the bearing operates in standard industrial environments. The non-contacting cover plates on both sides keep foreign particles out without generating any additional frictional torque. This makes this variant suitable for systems operating at medium to high speeds.
The covers on both sides (-2Z) are made of profiled sheet steel and form a tight sealing gap with the inner ring. They keep the grease inside and protect the raceways from coarse contaminants. The standard radial bearing clearance is designed for a defined operating clearance with standard shaft fits. In conjunction with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing meets common requirements, which facilitates planned replacement during maintenance.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 21 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical and has neither a flange nor a groove. The rolling elements are arranged in a single row of balls.
The suffix -2Z denotes two non-contacting cover plates made of sheet steel, which are secured to the outer ring on both sides. They protect the interior from dust and solid contaminants and keep the grease within the bearing housing without generating heat or a braking effect on the shaft due to friction.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance is designed to ensure that, once the inner ring has been pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing, there remains sufficient freedom of movement to ensure smooth running.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. These limits are determined by the thermal resistance of standard rolling-element bearing steel and the factory-applied grease filling, which is tailored to the metal covers.
Both the solid rings and the rolling elements are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which is designed for high load-carrying capacity. A dimensionally stable cage made of sheet steel is used to guide the rolling elements, whilst the two end plates are also made of sheet steel.
-2Z-type cover plates form a narrow gap with the inner ring and operate without contact. They do not cause any additional friction and are suitable for higher speeds; however, compared with abiding rubber seals, they offer less protection against moisture ingress or splash water.
