The SKF 6306/C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 30x72x19 mm, offers increased bearing clearance for demanding thermal operating conditions.
The 6306 /C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from SKF that accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, the bearing complies with standardised key dimensions. Due to its open design, this ball bearing is suitable for applications where the lubricant is required to circulate freely or where the housing is fitted with an external seal.
This deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used where temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in industrial drives subject to thermal loads. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and withstands mechanical stresses. As no sealing washers are fitted, the bearing can be supplied with oil or grease directly via the surrounding lubrication system.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance reduces the risk of the bearing becoming stressed due to heating or tight fits on the shaft and housing. In combination with the standard tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the design ensures smooth concentricity within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. Designers and maintenance engineers should check before installation whether the operating conditions and choice of fit require this increased bearing clearance.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing has an inside diameter of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width across flats of 19 mm. Both bearing rings are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and do not have an outer ring flange. Using these standardised dimensions, maintenance engineers can precisely match the component to the available installation space.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing discs on their end faces. This design reduces internal friction to a minimum, as there are no sealing lips in contact with the inner ring. Furthermore, the open design allows for direct flushing with lubricating oil within the housing or targeted relubrication with a suitable rolling-element bearing grease whilst the unit is in operation.
The version with a sheet steel cage and standard roller bearing steel covers an operating range from -20 to +150 degrees. As no temperature-sensitive elastomer seals are fitted, the component retains its dimensional stability even under sustained high temperatures. The actual operating limit is always determined by the temperature resistance of the selected lubricant.
The cage, made of pressed sheet steel, keeps the balls at a uniform distance apart and ensures even load distribution within the bearing. Compared with solid cages, the sheet metal cage is characterised by its low weight and efficient use of space for lubricant. It is resistant to most industrial lubricants and is suitable for normal to demanding operating speeds.
The designation P0 corresponds to class ABEC 1 and denotes the standard tolerance for rolling bearings. It defines mandatory limit values for the dimensional, geometric and running accuracy of the rings. For the vast majority of industrial applications in mechanical and plant engineering, this precision grade ensures a perfect fit and smooth running.
