The SKF 627 deep groove ball bearing is an open rolling bearing measuring 7x22x7 mm, designed to accommodate radial and axial loads in confined spaces.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing 627 belongs to the miniature bearing series and is manufactured by SKF in the Explorer version. The component supports rotating shafts and primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. It is designed for compact shaft mountings that require low-friction operation and defined running characteristics.
This deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in compact designs with limited radial and axial installation space. Thanks to the deep raceway geometry, the design accommodates not only the main radial load but also axial guiding forces in both directions. Typical applications include compact assemblies and precision mechanical axes where small dimensions – with an outer diameter of 22 mm and a 7 mm bore – are required.
As an open bearing, this variant does not feature integrated cover plates or sealing discs, which means no additional sealing friction is generated during operation. This enables smooth start-up and makes it suitable for assemblies with an external lubricant supply. The following applies during operation: the bearing location must be protected against the ingress of dirt and moisture by the customer. The built-in sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements within the permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The bearing has an internal diameter (bore) of 7 mm, an external diameter of 22 mm and a width of 7 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing assemblies with appropriately designed shaft and housing seats.
The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. The actual operating temperature limit also depends on the lubricant selected.
The open design, which does not use sealing washers, results in minimal friction losses and ensures smooth running. Lubricant can reach the raceways and balls unhindered. However, the component requires a sealed housing or external seals to prevent the ingress of dirt particles.
This model features the standard radial bearing clearance. This design provides the appropriate radial operating clearance for typical installation conditions where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, nor any unusually tight fits.
Inside, a sheet steel cage ensures that the rolling elements are spaced at a specific distance from one another. This cage design combines low weight with dimensional stability and is suitable for operation within the specified temperature limits.
Both the bearing rings and the balls are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel. The material is through-hardened, dimensionally stable and designed to withstand alternating contact stresses during rolling contact.
