Compact SKF deep-groove ball bearing 625 -2Z/C3, measuring 5x16x5 mm, with sheet metal end plates on both sides and increased radial clearance for smooth-running small drives.
The SKF 625 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row miniature rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 5 mm, an outer diameter of 16 mm and a width of 5 mm. The design primarily accommodates radial loads and guides shafts precisely in compact installations. Fitted with a robust sheet steel cage and metal shields on both sides, the unit resists ingress of foreign particles without incurring additional friction losses. This makes the bearing suitable for precision mechanical applications.
This miniature deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in small drives, precision mechanical devices and compact bearing arrangements. With dimensions of 5 × 16 × 5 mm, the component fits into housings with limited installation space. As the sheet metal cover plates operate without contact, the bearing causes virtually no torque loss at higher speeds. In clean to slightly dusty working environments, the covers shield the rolling elements from coarser dirt particles.
The suffixes denote key technical characteristics: the abbreviation 2Z stands for sheet steel cover plates pressed in on both sides, which reduce lubricant leakage and repel particles. The suffix C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This prevents the rolling elements from seizing up if temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or if tight fits reduce the clearance. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 5 mm, an external diameter of 16 mm and a width of 5 mm. Thanks to this standardised installation space, the model is suitable for small shafts in compact housings without a flange or groove.
The 2Z discs on both sides are made of profiled sheet steel and form a narrow, contact-free sealing gap with the inner ring. They keep out coarse dirt and dust without generating frictional heat. In contrast, abrasive rubber seals are more suitable for damp environments with splashing water.
The internal radial bearing clearance C3 offers greater radial clearance than the standard clearance. This counteracts thermal expansion caused by heat build-up during operation and compensates for any constriction in the fit caused by the pressing-in of the rings. This ensures that the balls run freely in the raceways, even under thermal stress.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This material is characterised by high strength, dimensional stability and the ability to withstand compressive loads during rolling contact. The integrated cage for guiding the row of balls is made from formed sheet steel.
The SKF bearing is approved for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the roller bearing steel, the sheet steel cage and the sealing gaps retain their shape and function provided they are properly lubricated.
The manufacturing accuracy complies with the standard tolerance P0 or PN as per ISO, as well as ABEC Class 1. This standard accuracy is sufficient for general shaft guides and standard drives in mechanical engineering.
