The SKF 62303 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 17x47x19 mm, offers compact protection against dirt and moisture for a wide range of industrial applications.
The SKF 62303 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing with seals on both sides. With a bore of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a special width of 19 mm, this design primarily accommodates radial loads. Thanks to its robust sheet steel cage and raceways made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), the component is equally suitable for demanding maintenance repairs and for long-term use in mechanical engineering.
This design is primarily used where dusty or damp environmental conditions prevail and additional installation space is available for wider bearings. Thanks to the 2RS1 contact seal on both sides, the lubricant remains inside the bearing whilst external particles are kept out. Design engineers and maintenance personnel specifically opt for this variant when durable assemblies are required without the need for external sealing measures.
The sliding seal protects the rolling elements from ingress of contaminants and moisture. Whilst open variants rely on external housing seals, the 62303 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is supplied sealed as standard. Please note the specified temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The standard radial bearing clearance and manufacture to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) ensure that the bearing can be fitted precisely onto standard shafts with a diameter of 17 mm.
With a bore of 17 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 19 mm, the bearing has defined dimensions. The width of 19 mm provides an enlarged contact surface in the bearing seat. Before fitting, it should be checked whether the shaft and housing bore are compatible with these dimensions.
The suffix -2RS1 indicates a sliding contact seal fitted on both sides. The sealing lips rest against the inner ring of the bearing and seal the interior against solid contaminants and moisture. At the same time, the seal design retains the grease inside the bearing.
The permissible operating range is at ambient temperatures of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the sealing lips and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their mechanical strength and dimensional stability to ensure proper operation.
This version features the standard radial bearing clearance without any additional designation. This standard clearance ensures smooth running under normal operating conditions. It is suitable for standard fit conditions on the shaft and housing, where no extreme temperature differences arise between the rings.
Inside, a robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at a uniform distance within the raceways. This cage design is characterised by its low weight and high resistance to vibration. It has proven its worth in combination with rolling elements made of roller bearing steel in most industrial drive and machinery applications.
Manufacturing is carried out in accordance with the standard tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN or ABEC 1). This standard tolerance defines precise limit dimensions for bore, outside diameter and concentricity. It allows for direct replacement in conventional machine fits without the need for custom-made housing seats or shafts.
