The 62202 -2RSR deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings, measuring 15 x 35 x 14 mm, offers a compact design and protection against dust and moisture on both sides.
The 62202 -2RSR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 15 mm, an outer diameter of 35 mm and a wider design measuring 14 mm in width. Compared to narrower bearing variants, this version’s greater width allows for a higher grease capacity. Fitted with a sturdy sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance, this version primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads.
This deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used where compact shaft diameters of 15 mm are subject to demanding environmental conditions. Thanks to its factory-fitted seal, this design proves its worth in rotating assemblies, drive units and enclosed mechanical engineering structures. The cylindrical outer ring, which has no groove or flange, fits precisely into standard bores. Designers use this design as a load-bearing fixed or floating bearing for continuous rotational movements.
The 2RSR seal, which contacts the raceways on both sides, effectively protects the raceways against the ingress of dirt particles, dust and splash water. At the same time, the sealing lip serves to minimise the escape of lubricant during operation. In combination with the permissible temperature range of -20 to +100 degrees, this bearing is suitable for enclosed assemblies without an external relubrication system. The contact design results in slightly more friction than with cover plates, which is offset by the high level of protection provided.
With an internal diameter of 15 mm, an external diameter of 35 mm and a width of 14 mm, this model features a wider design. This additional width creates more space inside and ensures stable guidance on the shaft.
The designation 2RSR indicates contact seals fitted on both sides. The elastic sealing lips rest directly against the inner ring and effectively keep out moisture and fine dirt particles. At the same time, this seal design protects the grease filling from leaking, making the bearing ideal for low-maintenance industrial applications.
The component is rated for use within a temperature range of -20 to +100 degrees. This range is largely determined by the sealing material and the integrated lubricant, meaning that the bearing is suitable for standard industrial applications, both indoors and outdoors.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the design radial clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unloaded. This standard setting prevents undesirable stresses after the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and into the housing, provided that standard installation tolerances and normal operating temperatures prevail within the system.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at a uniform spacing around the entire circumference and keeps the balls at a distance from one another. Sheet steel offers high dimensional stability combined with low weight and withstands the mechanical stresses within the normal speed and temperature ranges.
Manufacturing is carried out in accordance with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1 in international terminology. This tolerance class covers the typical dimensional and concentricity tolerances required in general mechanical engineering and ensures a precise fit both within the housing and on the shaft.
