The SKF 6220 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 100x180x34 mm, with seals on both sides and a C3 clearance, offers reliable protection against thermal expansion.
The SKF 6220 -2RS1/C3 single-row deep groove ball bearing is designed for radial loads and axial forces on both sides. With key dimensions of a 100 mm bore, 180 mm outside diameter and 34 mm width, the design is suitable for heavy-duty shaft support applications in mechanical and plant engineering. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6 with a robust sheet steel cage, the component ensures even load distribution. The factory-fitted seal retains the grease inside and protects the raceways from the ingress of dust and dirt particles.
The 6220 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing is particularly well-suited for use in industrial drives, gearboxes, pumps and electrical machinery, where larger shaft diameters and thermal loads are combined. Thanks to its sealed design, the bearing remains protected against abrasive environmental influences, whilst the ball raceway absorbs radial and axial forces during continuous rotational movement.
As the sealing lips rest against the inner ring on both sides, this rolling bearing is suitable for dusty operating environments within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rolling elements and raceways compensates for thermal expansion when the shaft heats up more than the bearing housing during operation. This ensures that the rotational movement remains smooth even as the temperature rises and protects against internal stresses.
Before installation, always check the thermal operating conditions in addition to the mounting dimensions of 100x180x34 mm. The combination of a sheet steel cage, tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and C3 clearance reduces the risk of the rolling elements seizing in tight fits.
This single-row roller bearing combines a 100 mm cylindrical bore with ground seals on both sides and increased radial clearance (C3). The design accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Thanks to the integrated seals, the lubricant remains inside the bearing, which reduces maintenance requirements and protects against the ingress of contaminants.
The component has an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing housings and on suitable shaft seats.
The designation 2RS1 refers to abiding contact seals fitted on both sides. The sealing lips rest against the inner ring shoulders with a light contact pressure. This design protects against the ingress of solid contaminants and moisture and helps to retain the lubricant within the bearing.
An increased bearing clearance of class C3 is recommended where there are temperature differences between the rotating shaft and the housing, and where there are tight fits. If the inner ring expands more than the outer ring as a result of heating, the additional radial clearance prevents the rolling elements from jamming and promotes smooth running.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the interaction between standard roller bearing steel, the lubricant and the sealing lips used. For applications outside this range, special designs using specific materials or lubricants are required.
The component is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0, which also corresponds to the ABEC 1 specification. This accuracy class meets the usual requirements in general mechanical engineering and ensures a precise fit when mounted on shafts and in bearing housings with standard tolerances.
