The FAG 6217-2RSR single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with an 85 mm bore and a ground seal on both sides, provides protection against the ingress of dirt.
The 6217-2RSR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for industrial drive and shaft assemblies. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, this design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. The manufacturer, FAG, equips this version with a standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, enabling the bearing to meet common standard requirements in mechanical engineering. The design combines guidance accuracy with robust load-carrying capacity.
This radial ball bearing is suitable for rotating shaft arrangements with a shaft diameter of 85 mm under combined loads. Due to their design, deep-groove ball bearings run very smoothly and are suitable for continuous rotational movement. The component does not require a flange or groove on the outer ring and can be fitted precisely into cylindrical housing bores with an outer diameter of 150 mm. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly during operation.
The RSR seal, fitted on both sides, consists of sliding sealing discs that bear against the inner ring. This design shields the rolling element set against the ingress of dust and dirt particles. At the same time, the seal helps to effectively limit the escape of lubricant. This design is a suitable solution for bearings in contaminated environments and is rated for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +100 degrees Celsius.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 28 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit on shafts and in housing bores designed for the metric size series of size 6217.
The suffix 2RSR indicates sliding seals fitted on both sides. The sealing lips make direct contact with the inner ring. As a result, this design shields the rolling element set against ingress of contaminants and retains the lubricant within the bearing.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +100 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the material properties of the sliding seals and the lubrication. Within these limits, the bearing continues to function correctly during normal operation.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the outer ring, inner ring and rolling elements in their initial state. It is designed for standard mounting fits and moderate operating temperatures, where there are no significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). A sheet steel cage is fitted to guide the rolling elements. This combination of materials offers high dimensional stability and mechanical strength under both radial and axial loads.
The bearing is designed to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This classification meets the standard requirements for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy in mechanical engineering, without the need for special fits to achieve tighter tolerance ranges.
