The SKF deep groove ball bearing 6200 -2Z, measuring 10x30x9 mm, offers protection against solid particles on both sides whilst being suitable for use at any speed.
The SKF 6200-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a radial ball bearing designed for shaft diameters of 10 mm. The design primarily accommodates radial forces, but also ensures reliable operation of shafts under axial loads acting from both sides. Manufactured to the SKF Explorer performance class, with enhanced dimensional accuracy to P6 and running accuracy to P5, this single-row unit ensures smooth concentricity and low vibration.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use this design in rotating assemblies that operate in clean environments or are protected from direct contamination by external sealing systems. The rolling bearing is suitable for high-speed applications where the focus is on minimal frictional resistance and low thermal stress. As the integrated cover plates operate without contact, there are no additional frictional losses on the shaft. The cylindrical outer ring, which has no groove or flange, facilitates installation in standard housings.
The double-sided cover, designated -2Z, consists of profiled sheet steel discs. These gap seals shield the bearing interior from solid particles without establishing sliding contact with the inner ring. In combination with the guided sheet steel cage, torque remains low. Compared with versions with standard tolerances, the combination of dimensional tolerance P6 and running tolerance P5 enables a more precise bearing fit and improved concentricity of the shaft supported by the bearing.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 10 mm, an external diameter of 30 mm and a width of 9 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. Thanks to these standardised key dimensions, the component can be fitted directly into suitable housing bores.
The designation -2Z indicates cover plates made of sheet steel that are pressed in on both sides. Together with the inner ring, these plates form a fine sealing gap. They protect the rolling elements from solid foreign particles, but do not come into contact with the rotating surfaces. Consequently, no additional frictional torque is generated, which preserves the bearing’s full speed capability.
These designations define the manufacturing tolerances of the rolling bearing. Dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P6, whilst running accuracy is manufactured to class P5. Both classes have tighter tolerances than the standard ‘Normal’ class. This results in lower deviations in concentricity and supports low-vibration designs.
The ball bearing is designed for an operating range of between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This temperature range is determined by the material properties of the standard rolling-bearing steel and the sheet steel cage. No special modifications are required for applications within this temperature range.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the internal operating clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements as supplied. It constitutes the standard specification for applications with typical fit selections and a constant operating temperature. This operating clearance is sufficient to accommodate elastic elongation under normal tight-fit conditions without causing harmful stress.
The inner ring, outer ring and balls are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material is characterised by high hardness, good wear resistance and excellent dimensional stability under load. Together with the guided sheet steel cage, this results in a robust unit suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
