The SKF 61804 deep-groove ball bearing combines a space-saving design measuring 20x32x7 mm with precise guidance of rotating machine components.
The 61804 deep groove ball bearing belongs to the group of thin-section bearings and is characterised by a particularly small cross-section. With an inside diameter of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 32 mm and a width of 7 mm, this single-row design is suitable for applications with very limited installation space. The component is manufactured by SKF and is made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). It primarily absorbs radial forces, guides shafts precisely and can also tolerate moderate axial forces in both directions.
Designs with minimal radial installation space benefit from the slim dimensions of this series. Thanks to its small material cross-section, the bearing reduces the overall weight of an assembly without compromising shaft guidance. As the outer ring is designed without a flange or ring groove, the ball bearing fits flush into cylindrical housing bores. Typical applications include general mechanical engineering and compact drive systems where precise guidance is required in very confined spaces.
This model has no integrated sealing washers. The open design allows unobstructed access for lubricating oils or greases within the housing, which minimises frictional resistance and promotes high rotational speeds. However, the open bearing requires a clean installation environment or a sealed machine housing to prevent dirt particles from affecting the raceways. Fitted with a robust sheet steel cage and standard radial bearing clearance, the design is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
With a bore of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 32 mm and a narrow width of 7 mm, this bearing belongs to the thin-section bearing range. It is specifically designed for applications where radial installation space is severely limited.
With no sealing lips or cover plates at the ends, the open design operates with particularly low friction. Lubricants from the housing reach the rolling elements unimpeded. This design is recommended for use in protected installation spaces where there is no direct ingress of dirt.
Bearing rings and rolling elements are manufactured from conventional standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material offers high hardness and dimensional stability under load. The integrated cage, which guides the balls, is made from pressed sheet steel.
Designed to tolerance class P0 or PN – known internationally as ABEC 1 – the bearing meets standard requirements in mechanical engineering. This level of precision ensures a precise fit when mounted on cylindrical shafts and in housing bores.
Designed for operation at ambient temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius, the roller bearing steel and sheet steel cage retain their mechanical strength and dimensional stability. At extreme temperature limits, the lubricant must be selected accordingly.
The term ‘normal radial bearing clearance’ refers to the standard internal clearance between the balls and raceways prior to installation. This clearance compensates for thermal expansion in standard fits and ensures smooth running.
