Deep Groove Ball Bearings SKF 607

SKF’s compact 607 deep-groove ball bearing with a 7 mm bore and enhanced running accuracy for precision small appliances and precision engineering applications.

The SKF 607 single-row deep groove ball bearing accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel in the Explorer design, this version is characterised by an optimised internal geometry. The component has neither a flange nor a groove on the outer ring and is suitable for cylindrical housing bores. It is primarily used where compact dimensions and smooth running are required.

In which applications is the 607 deep-groove ball bearing used?

Typical applications include precision shaft mountings, small drives and precision mechanical designs with confined installation spaces. Thanks to its compact dimensions – a 7 mm bore and a 19 mm outer diameter – the unit performs well where space is limited. As this is an open design without integrated sealing washers, the bearing runs particularly smoothly. Smooth operation is ensured by an environment protected from ingress of dirt particles by external housing seals.

What does the combination of dimensional accuracy P6 and running accuracy P5 mean?

In this model, SKF combines dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 with a finer running accuracy to P5. For designers, this means tighter concentricity and axial run-out tolerances than with standard bearings. This reduces vibrations and operating noise. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and the robust sheet steel cage, the bearing covers an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Designs with high requirements for concentricity benefit directly from this level of precision.

What are the dimensions of the 607 deep-groove ball bearing?

With an internal diameter of 7 mm, an external diameter of 19 mm and a width of 6 mm, the 607 deep-groove ball bearing is one of the miniature roller bearings designed for space-saving shaft mountings.

What are the characteristics of the open design?

An open bearing does not have any factory-fitted seals or cover plates. It therefore has a lower friction torque, but requires a clean installation environment or external housing seals to protect the bearing from contamination and lubricant loss.

What do the tolerance classes P6 and P5 mean?

The bearing has a dimensional accuracy of P6 for mating dimensions such as bore and outer diameter, as well as the tighter running accuracy of P5. This results in reduced concentricity tolerances, ensuring particularly smooth and low-vibration operation of the shaft.

What temperature range is the 607 deep-groove ball bearing suitable for?

The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. This range is supported by the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage. You should take this temperature range into account when selecting a lubricant.

What is the purpose of the sheet steel cage?

The sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the rolling elements and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. The material can withstand the specified operating temperatures and offers stability whilst being lightweight.

What is the standard radial clearance for this bearing?

Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set radial clearance as supplied, without any special designation. It provides the necessary clearance between the balls and raceways to compensate for radial expansion due to fit during normal operation.
