The SKF 6022/C3 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with a bore of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 170 mm and increased bearing clearance, offers a high level of operational reliability under thermal variations.
The SKF 6022/C3 single-row deep groove ball bearing is designed primarily for radial loads whilst also accommodating axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) with standard tolerance P0/PN (ABEC 1), this open rolling bearing is suitable for industrial applications with an external lubrication system. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at temperatures ranging from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This rolling bearing is suitable for mounting positions subject to predominantly radial loads and thermal differences between the rotating shaft and the housing. It is primarily used in enclosed assemblies where external seals and lubrication systems protect the open component from contamination and ensure a continuous supply of lubricant. The deep raceways enable the reliable guidance of 110 mm shafts and accommodate combined loads whilst ensuring smooth running.
The suffix /C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rolling elements and raceways compensates for thermal expansion when temperature differences arise between the shaft and housing during operation. Tight fits also reduce bearing clearance during press-fitting, which is why the C3 version helps to prevent the bearing from becoming stressed by press-fitting forces.
A single-row radial ball bearing from SKF with an 110 mm bore, 170 mm outer diameter and 28 mm width. It has no integrated seals, features a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage and, thanks to the increased radial clearance (C3), compensates for thermal expansion or fit constriction during operation.
The roller bearing has an inner diameter of 110 mm for the shaft, an outer diameter of 170 mm for the bearing seat, and a width of 28 mm. The cylindrical outer ring has no flange or groove and complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than the standard value when the bearing is unloaded. This clearance helps to prevent the bearing from seizing up due to operational heat build-up or after being pressed onto a shaft with a tight fit, thereby extending its service life.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing plates, which means that lubricating oil or grease from the surrounding system can reach the raceways and balls unhindered. This variant is suitable for enclosed housing designs in which external seals protect the bearing and a central lubrication supply is provided.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 material and the steel cage remain dimensionally stable within this range. For practical use, the external lubricant employed must also be suited to the specific operating temperature.
In this bearing, a sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance apart. The cage is characterised by its low weight and resistance to lubricants, and is designed for the entire permissible temperature range of the bearing.
