The SKF 6020 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing, with a 100 mm bore, double-sided lip seals and Explorer design, offers reliable protection in compact installations.
The SKF 6020 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing for shaft diameters of 100 mm. As a versatile rolling bearing, this design primarily accommodates radial loads as well as axial loads in both directions. The design, made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) with a robust sheet steel cage, is engineered for demanding industrial applications. The Explorer performance class is characterised by optimised internal contact geometries and precise manufacturing quality during operation.
This radial ball bearing is used in rotating bearing arrangements subject to combined loads. With an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 24 mm, the 60 series requires comparatively little radial installation space. The double-sided seal effectively protects the interior against dust, dirt particles and splash water. This makes the bearing unit particularly suitable for operating environments where contamination is present or where external sealing systems cannot be fitted due to space constraints.
The factory-fitted 2RS1 seal washers contact the seating surface of the inner ring and retain the lubricant within the bearing chamber. Relubrication is not required during normal operation across the temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The increased dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 also ensures precise bearing seats and tight fits. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance, the component ensures smooth running at standard operating and installation temperatures.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 150 mm and a width of 24 mm. These standardised key dimensions of the 60 series allow for direct mounting on suitable shafts and in standardised housing bores used in mechanical engineering.
The designation 2RS1 indicates sliding seals fitted on both sides that are in contact with each other. The sealing lips lie directly against the inner ring, retaining the factory-applied lubricant inside the bearing and reducing the ingress of contaminants and moisture into the rolling element area.
This model features standard radial bearing clearance, often referred to as tolerance class CN. This standard factory-set clearance is suitable for typical mounting conditions and moderate operating temperatures, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The temperature limits are determined primarily by the material of the ablating sealing discs and the lubricant filled at the factory. Within this range, the sealing performance is maintained.
Tolerance class P6 specifies a tighter dimensional accuracy for bores and external diameters than that of the standard tolerance. It allows for a more precise selection of fits in the housing and on the shaft, whilst the running accuracy corresponds to standard class PN.
