Deep Groove Ball Bearings SKF 6013 -Z

SKF 6013-Z deep groove ball bearing with a 65 mm bore, 100 mm outer diameter and a single-sided sheet metal cover for industrial bearing applications requiring increased running accuracy.

The 6013 -Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing of the SKF Explorer design. It primarily accommodates radial loads and, thanks to its deep raceway geometry, is also suitable for accommodating moderate axial forces in both directions. The outer ring is cylindrical, without a flange or groove. SKF manufactures the component from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) with a guided steel sheet cage. On one side, a metal cover plate protects against coarse dirt particles, whilst the opposite side remains open to allow lubricant to enter.

Under what installation conditions is the 6013-Z deep groove ball bearing recommended?

This design, featuring a Z-cover on one side, is particularly suitable where one side of the housing is already sealed or where lubrication is supplied via an internal system. As the gap seal operates without contact, there are no friction losses caused by rubbing seal lips. The bearing generates little internal heat during operation and is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to combined radial and axial loads.

What are the distinctive features of the Z cover plate and tolerance class P6?

The Z-cover plate keeps solid foreign particles out without restricting the speed limits due to frictional heat. Manufacture to tolerance class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3) means reduced dimensional and radial runout tolerances compared with standard tolerances. This supports precise guidance of rotating shafts and promotes smooth running in bearing seats with a diameter of 65 mm.

What are the dimensions of the 6013-Z deep-groove ball bearing?

The bearing has an internal diameter of 65 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 18 mm. The cylindrical outer ring has neither a ring groove nor a flange, which means the component can be press-fitted flush into straight housing bores.

What does the suffix ‘-Z’ on this roller bearing mean?

The abbreviation Z indicates a cover plate made of profiled sheet steel, pressed in on one side. This plate forms a narrow gap with the inner ring shoulder. It protects the bearing interior from the ingress of solid particles but, unlike a rubbing rubber seal, does not generate any additional frictional heat.

What is the bearing clearance for model 6013-Z?

The component is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance (CN). This standard range is sufficient for typical fit combinations on solid shafts and normal operating temperatures, without resulting in impermissible radial preload or disruptive running clearance during operation.

Within what temperature range can the bearing be operated?

The heat resistance of the roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage allows for continuous operation between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. When selecting a lubricant, designers must ensure that the chosen grease or oil is also stable across this temperature range.

Why is the P6 tolerance class specification advantageous?

Tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3 denotes reduced dimensional and runout tolerances compared with standard tolerances. This reduces vibration and enables more precise positioning of rotating shafts, which has a positive effect on noise levels in the drivetrain.

What material are the components made of?

Both the solid rings and the rolling elements are made of through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The ball cage is formed from stamped sheet steel. The component has no electrical insulation and is designed for standard installation in metal bearing housings.
