The SKF 6010-RS1 deep groove ball bearing combines compact dimensions of 50 × 80 × 16 mm with single-side sealing and enhanced P6 running accuracy for demanding industrial drives.
The 6010-RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 bearing steel, with key dimensions of a 50 mm bore, 80 mm outside diameter and 16 mm width. This SKF design in the Explorer performance class accommodates radial and moderate axial loads in both directions. Thanks to the robust sheet steel cage and standard bearing clearance, the design operates reliably even under varying operating conditions. Thanks to the cylindrical outer ring without a groove, the component fits flush into standardised bearing seats.
This single-row radial deep-groove ball bearing is suitable for rotating shafts and drives subjected to combined loads. The RS1 seal, which seals on one side, is recommended for designs where one side of the bearing needs to be protected against ambient dust or splash water, whilst the open opposite side is lubricated via the oil circuit. The permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees enables operation in many demanding industrial environments subject to continuous loads.
When selecting bearings, the combination of protection class and manufacturing precision plays a key role. The single-sided RS1 sealing disc provides mechanical protection for the rolling elements without obstructing access for lubricant from the open side. At the same time, tolerance class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3) offers tighter dimensional and running tolerances than the conventional standard tolerance. This design helps to reduce vibrations during operation and promotes smooth shaft concentricity.
With a bore of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of 16 mm, the bearing complies with standard key dimensions. This version features a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or snap ring groove. Before installation, the bearing seat on the shaft and the housing bore should be precisely machined to these dimensions.
The suffix RS1 denotes a one-sided seal. It protects the inside of the bearing on one side against the ingress of solid particles. The opposite side remains open, allowing lubricating oil or relubricating grease to reach the rolling elements directly from there.
Tolerance class P6 denotes tighter manufacturing tolerances in terms of dimensional, form and running accuracy compared with the standard ‘Normal’ tolerance. According to the US standard, this corresponds to grade ABEC 3. This design promotes a more even load distribution across the rolling elements, reduces vibrations and ensures smooth running at higher speeds.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +120 degrees. This range is limited by the interaction of the materials: standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the sheet steel cage and the sealing material. In applications outside these limits, the seal and lubricant may wear out prematurely.
Normal radial bearing clearance provides the appropriate internal clearance for standard fit conditions and normal operating temperatures. When unmounted, the radial clearance allows for the compensation of minor thermal expansion without causing excessive stress. It is suitable for applications where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
Standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) is used for the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements. This steel is characterised by high strength and dimensional stability. A sturdy sheet steel cage serves as the guiding element, keeping the balls at a uniform distance and assisting with guidance during rotation.
