The 6010 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with dimensions of 50x80x16 mm, is primarily designed to withstand radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 6010 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from the 60 series with a symmetrical design for a wide range of industrial applications. It has a bore of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of 16 mm. The rings and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and are guided by a sturdy sheet steel cage. The open bearing allows free circulation of the lubricant and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This deep-groove ball bearing primarily accommodates high radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions on rotating shafts. Thanks to its open design, the component can be connected directly to on-site lubrication circuits, for example in recirculating lubrication or oil bath systems. The design allows for load-bearing bearing arrangements with a shaft diameter of 50 mm without requiring oversized housing dimensions.
The open design without integrated sealing washers requires a clean installation environment and external housing seals to prevent the ingress of dirt particles. With tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and standard radial bearing clearance, this model is suitable for standard installation scenarios without extreme thermal expansion. Before assembly, it is advisable to check the dimensional accuracy of the shaft, whilst the supply of grease or lubricating oil should be arranged in accordance with the relevant operating requirements.
The 6010 deep-groove ball bearing has an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 16 mm. These standardised dimensions of the 60 series are suitable for medium-sized shafts. When planning, it is advisable to check that these external dimensions match the existing bearing seat in the housing.
An open bearing is supplied ex-works without cover plates or contact rubber seals. This means there is no additional friction caused by sealing lips, which promotes high speeds and smooth running. Lubrication is provided by the surrounding system, for example via an oil bath or regular relubrication through the housing.
Normal bearing clearance, often referred to as ‘CN’ across manufacturers, describes the defined radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It ensures that the bearing rotates smoothly at standard operating temperatures and with normal fit allowances, without causing stress or increased friction.
This bearing is designed for temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. In actual continuous operation, it is primarily the lubricant used that determines the thermal load limit of the bearing assembly.
The sheet steel cage maintains a precise spacing between the spherical rolling elements and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. Thanks to its low weight, it takes up little space inside the bearing, which improves the flow of lubricant. Furthermore, within the specified temperature range, the material demonstrates resistance to mechanical shocks.
The P0 tolerance class, comparable to ABEC 1, denotes the standardised accuracy for industrial roller bearings. It defines the permissible deviations for bore, outer diameter and concentricity. For the vast majority of applications in general mechanical engineering, this precision class offers a good balance between smooth running and cost-effectiveness.
