With a bore of 260 mm, an outside diameter of 400 mm and an externally mounted brass cage, the 16052 MA deep-groove ball bearing offers a robust solution for large industrial drives.
The SKF 16052 MA deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With an inside diameter of 260 mm, an outside diameter of 400 mm and a narrow width of 44 mm, it belongs to the 160 series. The rings and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). In the open version, the bearing is designed for operation with externally supplied lubricant in protected machine housings.
This large bearing is primarily designed to accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads in both directions during continuous rotational movement. Typical applications include heavy-duty gearboxes and drive trains in general mechanical engineering. As the bearing has no integrated sealing washers, it is suitable for installation in locations with existing housing seals and targeted oil or grease lubrication. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The suffix ‘MA’ denotes a solid brass cage that is guided on the outer ring. This external guidance reduces the tendency for vibration at higher speeds and promotes smooth running. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the 16052 MA deep groove ball bearing is suitable for dimensionally accurate cylindrical bearing seats. A continuous supply of lubricant is required for trouble-free operation.
A single-row roller bearing from the narrow 160 series with the following main dimensions: 260 mm bore, 400 mm outside diameter and 44 mm width. Manufactured from standard SKF roller bearing steel, it accommodates radial and axial loads and is designed for use in large gearboxes and industrial drivetrains.
The abbreviation MA refers to a solid brass cage which is guided on the shoulder of the outer ring. The solid cage is characterised by its dimensional stability and resistance to vibration. The external guidance ensures precise positioning of the balls, even under dynamic loads.
This bearing has standard radial clearance (standard play). This range offers a good balance between guidance accuracy and clearance under normal operating conditions. It is suitable where the shaft and housing are manufactured to standard tolerances and there are no significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The materials used for the rings, balls and brass cage remain dimensionally stable within this range. When designing the bearing arrangement, the lubricant used must be selected to suit the actual operating temperature of the system.
As an open bearing, it does not require integrated seals or cover plates. This design keeps frictional resistance low and allows lubrication via the machine’s oil circuit or external relubrication systems. The surrounding housing must provide protection against dust and moisture.
The bearing complies with the standard tolerance class ‘Normal’, designated as P0 or PN, and ABEC 1 in accordance with international standards. This accuracy class meets the standard requirements in general mechanical engineering and ensures a precise cylindrical fit on the shaft and within the housing.
