The FAG 16021 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row, open rolling bearing measuring 105 × 160 × 18 mm, designed for radial and axial loads.
The FAG 16021 deep groove ball bearing is a versatile rolling bearing for industrial applications. With a bore of 105 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a narrow width of 18 mm, this single-row bearing can accommodate radial and moderate axial forces. As it is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the component is suitable for mechanical and plant engineering. The component, which has a cylindrical bore, is designed without a flange or groove on the outer ring.
Design engineers primarily use this open rolling bearing where low friction losses and smooth running are paramount. As the bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, it is suitable for designs with external housing seals and oil or grease lubrication. Typical applications include bearing locations with limited axial installation space. Thanks to its temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, the component can also be used under thermal stress.
When fitting this model, care must be taken to ensure a clean installation environment, as dirt particles can enter the interior unhindered. The bearing features a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage that guides and separates the rolling elements. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and with standard radial clearance, the deep groove ball bearing can be fitted onto standard shafts. Select a lubricant suited to the operating temperature and speed to prevent premature wear of the rolling elements.
The component has an internal diameter of 105 mm, an external diameter of 160 mm and a width of 18 mm. With these dimensions, it is one of the particularly slim designs available and enables space-saving bearing arrangements on cylindrical shafts in mechanical engineering.
This design does not feature integrated seals or cover plates, meaning that the rolling elements and the sheet steel cage are freely accessible. This reduces frictional resistance and facilitates the supply of external lubricant. However, its use requires a protected housing to shield the bearing from dust, moisture and solid particles.
The bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance. This standard clearance provides a good balance between radial operating clearance and stable shaft guidance under normal operating conditions. It is suitable for applications with standard fits and moderate temperature differences between the shaft and the housing.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When selecting the lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that the grease or oil is approved for the specific operating temperature.
This roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (standard tolerance), which corresponds to ABEC 1 classification. It offers the dimensional, geometric and running accuracy required for general mechanical engineering. The manufacturing tolerances are designed to fit conventional bearing seats and facilitate cost-effective replacement during maintenance work.
Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The integrated cage is made from pressed sheet steel. This combination of materials ensures mechanical stability and reliable guidance of the balls whilst maintaining a moderate weight.
