The 6306 -Z-C3 deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, measuring 30x72x19 mm, offers increased C3 bearing clearance and one-sided protection against coarse contamination.
The 6306 -Z-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing for rotating shafts in industrial applications. With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, the cylindrical outer ring corresponds to the standard design without a groove or flange. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the rings and rolling elements offer high dimensional stability under load. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly and ensures smooth running.
This radial deep-groove ball bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Design engineers and maintenance personnel use the 6306 design for rotating shafts in industrial assemblies with single-side lubrication. The single-sided sheet metal cover leaves one side of the bearing open to lubricant from inside the housing, whilst the closed side protects against coarse particles. This is suitable for housing designs with separate lubrication zones.
The suffix ‘Z’ denotes a sheet metal cover plate pressed in on one side. This non-contact seal generates no additional frictional torque, which is why the speed limits remain virtually unchanged compared with open bearings. The suffix C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This variant compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings and prevents stress build-up in the case of tight press fits. The standard tolerance P0 meets common requirements for dimensional and concentricity accuracy.
With an internal diameter of 30 mm, an external diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, the component complies with standard dimensions. This means that the model can be fitted as a spare part in standardised housings and on corresponding shaft fits.
The designation ‘Z’ indicates a cover plate made of sheet steel on one side of the bearing. This cover prevents larger particles of dirt from entering without rubbing against the inner ring. As a result, the bearing operates with low friction and is suitable for applications where lubricant is supplied via the open opposite side.
An increased radial bearing clearance (C3) is selected when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation. The increased bearing clearance compensates for thermal expansion and prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed in tight fits.
The rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, which offers high dimensional stability under load. The rolling elements are guided by a sheet steel cage designed to withstand typical operating temperatures in mechanical engineering.
As a radial deep-groove ball bearing, this component primarily absorbs radial forces perpendicular to the shaft axis. Thanks to the deep grooves in the inner and outer rings, the bearing also transmits moderate axial loads in both directions.
The component is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 (corresponding to PN or ABEC 1). This tolerance class defines the permissible dimensional and running deviations for standard applications and helps to ensure a precise fit between the shaft and the housing.
